Another Republican member of the House has announced he will not run for reelection in 2020, becoming the fifth GOP lawmaker to announce their departure over the past two weeks.

Rep. Mike Conaway of Texas confirmed reports about his retirement on Wednesday, citing his desire to spend more time with family as one reason for his decision.

"It has been the absolute worst secret kept in America today but I am going to announce that I am not going to run for reelection in 2020," Conaway said at a press conference in Midland, Texas, with his wife Suzanne by his side. "While serving in Congress, I've asked Suzanne and our family to make innumerable sacrifices. They've done that willingly but there's a time where those necessary sacrifices, I simply can't ask them to continue to do that."

So are these “retiring” Republicans conservatives, or pseudo-liberal “Bush League”??

"one of nation’s most Republican seat"

In 2018 he got 80% of the votes and his Democrat challenger got 18%!

But the anti-Trump media doesn't like deplorables interrupting their FAKE narratives, including their new one that proclaims Democrat will gain more seats in the house in 2020.

We need to look at this as an opportunity to replace Bush League Republicans.

According to CR, Conaway gets a 42....not great.

I’m thinking this is RINO pinheads again same as in 2018, hoping they can run for the hills and maybe democrats will pick up their vacated seats, just to make things harder for the “bad orange man”...Maybe if they get out of the way, democrats can keep the house and maybe even grab the senate...

Or maybe it’s more corrupt swamp critters jumping ship, hoping to avoid the blowback when the indictments start.

Some of the biggest RINOs are from safe GOP seats. They feel no need to even pander to the base with the security of incumbency.

He’s my rep. This district is one of the most Republican in the country. A Republican will replace him, hope it’s a good conservative one.

need GOPs capable of defeating incumbent Democrats in 2020 with Trump coattails and then win in 2022 with redistricting.
