I've already had a long and eye-opening discussion with an Upstate resident regarding these very issues, and we came to an understanding. I would object to the RJC's characterization, and reiterate my recommendation that the Hasidic and non-Hasidic residents sit down and iron out their differences. Unfortunately, this ad and the RJC's response has just made such overtures that much more difficult, imho.

Fascinating that the Republicans get immediately attacked and frplatformed for insinuations of anti-semitism but actual anti-semifinal by Democrats not only remains but is defended and celebrated.

From what I read, there’s a lot more going on in that county than what’s being reported. Becoming members of the community is not the problem. Sounds like local govt., education, redistricting and development are heavily being effected quickly and the locals are afraid. If it was my county, I would also be worried. Discussions must follow before changes are made. It’s that simple.

I’d take a Hasidic takeover over a muslim takeover anytime.

Even Israel has big issues with the Haredi separatism.
Its anti-American separatism, inside the US.

Its not the Jewish faith at issue, but the supporters always throw that crapola against the wall to see if itcsticks. Drive through any area and see for yourself. THAT’S why thinking people object. It destroys entire areas, communities, the tax base and polical representation.
5 or 6 thousand block voting in a local election. You do the math.
Its the corruption, bribery, food stamp and medicaid explosion thats the problem

The peoblem, and it already exists on Long Island in The Five Towns involves the schools. Hasidics send their kids to Yeshivas as is their right, but they run for and win control of the local school boards where they can limit spending, lower school taxes, direct spending like repair and transportation to fellow Hasidics and create a sense that the schools are in need of improvement, prompting non hasidics to sell, oftrn for cash to other hasidics. The animosity is not simply one of appearance and eruv wires but of totally changing a community via legal but disturbing means.

Psalm 141:3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

Politicians ought to pray that prayer daily. So should we all.

Any (R) person should know this, too: (D) persons’ faux pas are “inartful”; (R) persons’ faux pas are Nazi.

The Hasidic folks do not build integrated communities with the broader communities they settle in.

The are standoffish and do not mix in most any otherwise natural way with non-Hassidic neighbors.

I have had three different Hassidic families over the years, occupying 1/2 of a two family house with a common driveway between my house and their unit.

They never ever speak to be unless I speak first. They do nothing with and have nothing to do with any of our non-Hasidic neigbors, not even our non-Hasidic Jewish neighbors.

They have many of their homes declared synagogues and every Hasidic man wants to be a Rabbi with his own little group. We - all our neighbors - have been at pains for years to find out how many of Hasidim’s homes are exempt in any way from the property taxes. Yes, I know, THEIR kids are not taking up seats in the public schools anyway.

Still, what the Hasidim really want is their own community, and as they cannot usually buy a whole community at once, they just keep buying near other Hasidim so that gradually they dominate a street, a neighborhood, a town.

One of the ways they abuse their dominance in very otherwise mixed areas is in land use. In the town but up next to mine, there is s street that has forever been the mid point - running north and south - of a always nothing but residential area. Some blocks east & west of that mid point, the neighborhood is bounded by avenues with some residential and some non-residential land use. But never ever has anything but residence been in the very middle of the neighborhood.

A group of Hasdim kept pressing the city for years to build a synagogue & mens public bath on a large residential lot on the mid point avenue. Neihgborhood groups always protested as ANY such building, built for ANY institutional outfit, including ANY religious outfit, would change the very heart of that residential area for good.

Finally the stupid city officials caved under the threat of a “religious discrimination” lawsuit, and the Hasidim got their permit. Many long time residents - Christians, non-Hasidic Jews, non-religious have been selling or planning to sell. For the Hssidim THAT is no problem, that is what they want, the realtors have told folks in that neighborhood for years that all they have to do is decide to sell and the realtor can get their house sold in days. The Hasidim want to congregate together so much they will easily outbid non-Hasidim on a house for sale in the area.

In my experience the Hasidim are very much like the Amish, only unlike the Amish they want your land, your houses, your stores so they can all be together, by default, and without you in the way - cause you are not part of their community and they have no intention of integrating in anyway with yours.

Meanwhile, I owe my life to an Orthodox Hasidic Rabbi, and I still speak to him often enough and have no prejudice towards him or his faith.

But how the Hssidim want to live does not include “integrating” in a religiously mixed community. That’s just the facts as I have experienced them. And THAT mode is unsettling to everyone else, and rightly so.

Idiotic. Hasdic Jews should be our natural allies

To push groups away that we have fundamental agreements with is insane

I was born and raised in Rockland; lived there for 43 years. I know personally how unpleasant it is to have a Hasidic community for neighbors.

They are an unpleasant, entitled, dirty bunch of people. They are invading Orange County now and taking and wanting broad swaths of land there.

No it’s nice to say these things. But all of us - Democrat and Republican and Snowflakes all agree on it. Some of us are bold enough to say it.

To a large extent they live on welfare fraud, and illegal drug sales and prostitution in NYC and Jersey.

Oh, and if one their unlicensed, uninsured drivers of a yeshiva bus ever totals your car in Spring Valley tough tits for you.

The Hasidic (ultra-Orthodox Jewish people) are engaging in ethnic cleansing as they colonize municipalities with the goal of pushing out Gentiles except for a small number of Hispanic residents who they allow (as their servants.) The Hasidic are engaging in shameful behavior. What is the shameful behavior?

(1) Aggressively soliciting people to sell their homes to them by using scare tactics. (You will be the only gentile left)

Being bad neighbors - littering their own lawns with toys left astray, failing to upkeep the property, failing to show common courtesy to non-Hasidic people (would it kill them to say please and thank you? - God forbid, hold the door for a person entering the store right behind them instead of letting it slam in people’s faces?), teaching their children to stay away from non-Hasidic children (actually saying, in Yiddish, “get away from that “goy” or even worse, that “schvartzer”.) Goy is a derogatory term for gentile and schvartzer is a derogatory term for African-American. As a group, they are bigoted and racist.

Once they own some property on a block they deliberately rent to bad tenants with the intent of lowering property values so they scoop up the rest of the houses on the block after the original homeowners panic and sell out. Once they own all the houses on the block they kick out the bad tenants and move themselves in.

(2)Shamefully filing religious discrimination lawsuits (RLUIPA) to bypass local zoning laws so they can build high-density housing which, once occupied, will later have illegal basement apartments that will not be inspected and no code will be enforced

(3) Shamefully packing the public school board and with the clear intention of diverting funds from the public schools to their own private schools. Also packing the council, planning, zoning, etc.

(4) Shamefully getting married at a very young age and having large families without any means of support and without any intention of looking for a job. The healthy, able-bodied young fathers will spend their days leisurely studying ancient religious texts while their wives struggle with baby after baby collecting welfare - section 8, food stamps, medicaid, every benefit available - all thanks to the American taxpayer.

(5) Shamefully keeping their young males ignorant by failing to teach them any useful trade or providing any academic preparation for a profession.

(6) Shamefully failing to properly teach their young males the English language.

(7) Shamefully buying corrupt politicians with their block vote.

(8) Shamefully taking over neighboring municipality’s parks (that they don’t pay taxes to maintain) then leaving their garbage strewn about making no effort to clean up after themselves.

The Hasidic are very bad neighbors and the residents of Rockland County are correct in pushing back.
