GOP senator hits back after CEOs demand gun reform

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) responded on Thursday after the chief executives of more than 100 companies wrote a letter to the U.S. Senate urging Congress to pass various anti-gun measures.

“Now look, here’s my starting point: I want to see facts. I believe love is the answer, but I also own a handgun just in case, and that’s my right as an American citizen,” Kennedy told Fox Business host Stuart Varney. “The Bill of Rights is not an a la carte menu — the Second [Amendment] is just as important as the First or the Fourth.”

“Some of my colleagues say ‘OK, we’re going to curtail the Second Amendment constitutional right in the interest of public safety and it will reduce mass shootings.’ My response is, ‘OK, prove it,'” he continued. “I’m interested in facts, I’m not interested in speculation. I don’t want to see people pulling stuff out of their orifices. Show me the causal scientific evidence because you’re dealing with a constitutional right.”

Thanks John you and duhlissa milano(hypcrite) have something in common on having firearms in your houses. But, you should have included in your comment that the 2nd amendments role was to prevent what the CONgress criminals are currently trying to do in further infringing on things that are supposedly NOT allowed to be infringed.

The Constitution must be fully respected.

Natural human rights must also be respected. Homosexuality has bad side effects. The Constitution shouldn’t be modified to outlaw homosexuality.

Show me the causal scientific evidence because you’re dealing with a constitutional right.

We need to STOP trying to fulfill the emotional desires of the weakest among for the sake of "doing something". Go peddle your trash elsewhere!

Keep in mind that top executives of Fortune 500 corporations are not allowed to fly commercial. They fly in corporate jets. Also, they are chauffeured about in armored vehicles by their armed security personnel. Their residentences have high walls cameras, security alarms around the periphery. So, they’re quite well protected.

So then, let’s apply the baby killer’s argument here. Why are these rich people with armed protection and paid security telling others about not owning guns?

Keep your laws off my guns!

These CEOs wouldn’t allow a subordinate to make changes to their corporate operating procedures with just a “something needs to be done now”. They would demand a complete study of the outcome of such changes, the reasoning, the negative effect of a change and and the effect on their brand.

The fact that these CEOs are making demands without a complete analysis based in fact and studies should give their Board of Directors pause.

I must point out again that these proposed “Laws”* would INFRINGE a lot more of our right than “Just” the 2A.

I suggest everyone re-read the BOR!

By my quick perusal the only items NOT infringed by these draconian proposals/”Laws”* are the 3rd, 9th, and 10th amendments!

This “Gun Control” feculence is one of the things several mass shooters clearly stated they hoped to accomplish, so now congress intend to accommodate the demands of the insane and terrorist?

Seems the goals of terrorism are being accomplished far too easily here!

*See my tagline.

The proper response should hasve been:

Dear CEO’s,

Thank you for your concern, we are ready to move forward with Gun Control as you suggest as soon as we receive a Signed Document for EVERY LAST PERSON in your Copmpanies voluntarily putting them on the NO FIREARMS ALLOWED list. We also expect receipts demonstrating that EVER LAST PERSON has Relinquished their firearms to the Authorities.
Thank You

These CEOs should be more concerned about increasing their shareholders’ value.

Where are the Boards of Directors for these companies? Did they approve this letter?
