PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. - Prince George’s County Council is replacing Columbus Day with Native American Day beginning in 2020.

The council noted that Oct. 14, 2019 will be the county’s final official Columbus Day.

The bill arrives on the heels of a similar measure passed by the D.C. Council, which voted Tuesday to rename the day traditionally reserved for Columbus Day as Indigenous Peoples Day.

Now all they have to do is get the Washington Redskins to change their moniker to the Washington Indigenous People to keep everything in sync

Just call it Autumn Day. Why do any of these folks think they need a holiday? It’s just a day off.

Thankfully I was able to eliminate Prince George’s County, MD over 25 years ago never to return ever.

15 years ago for me.

I bet the kids can’t say it, spell it or define the word.

"I’ve heard that Prince George’s County has a lot of bad neighborhoods."

You have heard correctly.
Grew up there in 60's/early 70s.
Was ok. Now the areas close in to Wash. DC are
quite dangerous. Especially in you're white person.
Frakly, the entire county has gone to hell.

PG County is a crummy place to begin with. This is no surprise.

So now Spain is on the Leftist’s S list too?

What happened to their love of Latino people?

65% of Mexican citizens have Spanish blood in them, and they speak the native tongue of Spain.

I’m trying to figure out how they will allow school children to celebrate such a day. They won’t be allowed to wear feathers in their hair, mark their faces with colored paint (excuse me, paint of color), call the girls squaws and the boys braves, draw tomahawks, smoke peace pipes, beat on drums, sit in homemade teepees or wigwams, or any of that stuff because it would be cultural appropriation.

PG County, MD, is 90% cesspool. I lived there for 30 years in one of its non-cesspool areas. Left in 2104 to rural PA, i.e. flyover country, where Democrats are as rare as cats that bark. During 2016, the dims set up shop at a corner storefront. I opened the door once and told the only person there, “All you need is a basset hound named Newton and you could call yourself the Maytag repairman.”

Columbia is a New Latin toponym in use since the 1730s for the Thirteen Colonies. It originated from the name of Italian explorer Christopher Columbus and from the ending -ia, common in Latin names of countries (paralleling Britannia, Gallia, and others).

An aspect of this story that know one seems to catch is that Karl Marx hated Christopher Columbus and wrote about him being the personification of all that is evil in European Colonialism and Western Capitalism.

The reference by Cory Booker to a “Spartacus” moment is also misunderstood by many. Karl Marx praised Spartacus as an inspiration to “Workers of the World” in the revolution and overthrowing of the Capitalist class.

The people who buy into this bull crap may be “useful idiots” but the people pushing this at the Government Level - local, state and federal - are well indoctrinated Marxist ideologues.

“A Communist is someone who reads Marx and Lenin. An anti-Communist is someone who understands Marx and Lenin.”

If you don’t believe me look it up yourself. I’ve no only read Marx but understand him!

Ditto! Except that I drive through every once in awhile—to gloat. It helps to speak Spanish if you want to order from the McDonald's drive-thru.

And that's just stupid anyway. If not Columbus, someone else would have made the journey. Western progression would have happened with or without Columbus. Besides ... he never stepped foot in what is now the United States.
