California’s expensive solar panels to fight climate change don’t work during blackout

Californians who screech about climate change were furious after discovering that the expensive solar panels they installed on their rooftops don’t work during a blackout unless they buy an equally expensive battery system.

This week, a mass power outage occurred when utility company PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric Co.) shut down the electric grid in Northern California to prevent wildfires, which have been ravaging the state.

The grid shutdown in 34 counties caused more than 738,000 area customers to lose power, KCRA reported.

The irony is that California’s insistence on solar panel installation has not helped at all during the forced grid shutdown.

Moreover, beginning in January 2020, California has made it mandatory for all new homes to be built with solar panels.

“Energy experts estimate that building solar panels can add another $10,000 to $15,000 to the cost of rebuilding,” according to Action News Now.

In other words, installing solar panels to combat climate change is not only more expensive, but has proven to be ineffective in helping maintain power during a blackout. So what’s the point?

If the panels go to a battery bank in the home, it would be fine. But if you are pumping power onto the grid...the grid is down. Duh.

The California legislature has mandated that all voyages to the sun must have landings at night - it’s cooler on the sun then.

Yes, that is the logic of the idiots currently infesting California.

CA residents, take over. Do with these fools what you wish. Just burn and bury the evidence.

If I'm going to buy solar panels I'm going to build a system to go off the grid entirely, not to power the grid for the self-righteous in the state capital.

Unless batteries are illegal in California for being anti-social.

Told people this was a PGE scam.

They reap the benefits of solar collection.

Since you are not home probably 5 days a week they just collect power you aren’t using anyway, reducing their burden.

You got had by the givernment and PGE

And what about those electric cars? How do those future-oriented folks escape the fires if they can’t charge those batteries?

My luck must be changing. Usually these things don’t come to light until after I partake of them. I’ll stick with my generator. All we need is for our refrigerator and well pump to work.

How much is PGE required to pay for electricity from private solar?
It’s my understanding they have to pay the retail price, which I think is north of 20 cents per KWH.

Otherwise they use natural gas and coal power which is south of 5 cents.

Just my understanding, and I’m interested in finding out the real prices.
