The West’s Kurdish allies on Sunday night announced they had agreed to a Russian-brokered deal to allow the Assad regime into their territory in a bid to spare their cities from a Turkish assault after they were abandoned by Donald Trump.
Hours after the US said it was withdrawing all of its troops from northern Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said it had reached an agreement to allow Bashar al-Assad’s troops into their territory.
“If we have to choose between compromises and the genocide of our people, we will surely choose life for our people,” said Mazloum Kobani Abdi, the commander of the SDF.
It was not immediately clear if the agreement with Assad would bring a halt to the Turkish offensive or if the Turkish military and its Syrian rebel allies would continue to advance.
But the deal appeared to strike a death knell for Kurdish hopes of maintaining autonomy from Damascus in their own semi-state in northeast Syria.
The announcement marked a stunning fall for the SDF, who just a week ago could count on the support of the US military in deterring Turkey from taking action.
That security came to an end last Sunday night when Mr Trump told Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey’s president, the US would not interfere in a Turkish attack on northeast Syria.
“The betrayal process is officially completed," an SDF official said of the US withdrawal.
Turkish warplanes thundered into Syrian airspace while Turkish-backed rebel forces advanced against the SDF on the ground and on Sunday night Kurdish commanders decided they had to strike a deal to prevent annihilation.

Now Russia will intervene on the Kurds behalf. Erdy will be forced to cease and desist or else.

That and the deep state will no longer have a northern Syrian hidey hole for some of their nefarious stuff.
Trump wins - the Kurds are safe and the Russians are in the hook to enforce the peace.

I certainly hope that Assad and Russia will not be afraid to forcefully evict Erdogan’s troops and their Islamist Arab “Free Syrian Army” thugs.
And also hopefully this will nip in the bud Erdogan’s plans to “ethnically cleanse” the areas of his invasion of ethnic Kurds and replace them with Islamist Arabs and other associated Islamists.

No this is what we thought would happen. Syria would make overtures to the Kurds and then Russia steps in to cement it. The Russians have a huge naval base in Syria which is critical to their strategic positioning in the Mediterranean Sea. They want stability in Syria to protect this valuable asset for their Navy.
The Russians will tell Erdy to chill or they will likely shoot. Erdy is on thin ground with NATO over this and will have no support if he gets attacked and NATO would love to see him get his ass kicked.
That is a small part of the reason but we have vested interest except to see ISIS crushed. This is a deep state haven for causing trouble that is going away for them.
Looks to me that will happen. After all, the Syrians, with Russian help, were running things perfectly well until the anti-American, America hating and destroying, pig shit (deliberate insult to his true “religion), Islamocommunist traitor Obola decided to set off the civil war to overthrow Assad and replace him with ISIS. BTW, call me “traitor” if anyone here wants, but the Russians were always acting in accordance with our (yes, our) real interests in supporting Assad. Obola, the Witch, and their accomplices were the real traitors in this whole, evil, vile affair.

Watching all the celebrations/vid’s today & tonight as the SAA & the finally came to their senses Kurds are United to restore Sovereign Secular Syria.
The realists on this forum, believers in the “Assad Curse”, and President Assad told the Kurds their only path forward would be reconciliation with the legitimate Syrian Goverment.
US needs to completely leave Syria, and not continue this folly by sending thousands of US troops to the Wahabbi terrorist KSA.
Hasn’t made the news on the talk show circuit yet
So the big winner in this approach is Shia/ Iran/ Russia, China.
The big loser is Sunni/ Turkey (and thereby the EU)/ KSA/ Israel.
Save for Israel, there is no 1 to support in the M.E. The Christian remnant there had better get out. Clearly the American people have no appetite for continuous war, yet we continue to let Muslims into the U.S.
