Retired Admiral William McRaven has published an op-ed in Friday’s New York Times titled, “Our Republic Is Under Attack From the President,” urging that Trump be removed from office — “the sooner, the better.”
McRaven’s op-ed gives a military imprimatur to what President Donald Trump has already likened to a “coup,” as Democrats attempt to impeach him with barely a year to go before the next presidential election.
The admiral, well-respected for his role in overseeing the operation to kill Al Qaeda terrorist Osama bin Laden in 2011, argues that senior military leaders have lost confidence in the president and feel he is a threat to the nation.
“As I stood on the parade field at Fort Bragg,” McRaven recalled, “one retired four-star general, grabbed my arm, shook me and shouted, ‘I don’t like the Democrats, but Trump is destroying the Republic!’”
McRaven does not argue that President Trump has done anything wrong in particular, but that he has no respect for America’s values. These values, McRaven declares, involve a commitment to “help the weak and stand up against oppression and injustice” around the world.
“[W]hat will happen to the Kurds, the Iraqis, the Afghans, the Syrians, the Rohingyas, the South Sudanese and the millions of people under the boot of tyranny or left abandoned by their failing states?” McRaven asks, without explicitly calling for military intervention in any of the regions mentioned.

I’m always stunned when people would always say the military is conservatives especially the officers. I’d just shake my head. After 24 years of military and 3 in federal civilian service, I saw numerous liberal officers especially at the flag level.
McRaven should be facing a firing squad.

McRaven is one of those Obama appointed four-stars whom Trump inherited who spent years telling us that “Diversity” was the primary military mission.
There are many of them still in positions of consequence. Unfortunately, these generals and admirals had eight Obama years to make sure their successors in the colonel and one- and two-star ranks were from the same Obama cult that gave us Benghazi and transgenders and 105 lb. female Rangers and easily crossed red lines and punished chaplains.
McRaven and his democrat patrons now criticize Trump for pulling out of wars that just recently they were demanding that we pull out of because congress had not declared war.
If Syria is that important to McRaven, have him write an editorial demanding that Pelosi declare war on them.

Just curious, who was in charge of SOCOM on 11 September 2012 and what American values did that person demonstrate by sitting on his hands while US personnel were denied backup in an active firefight in Benghazi?
THE ADMIRAL NEEDS TO STICK WITH THE MILITARY AND LEAVE CIVILIANS TO GOVERN THE POLITICAL SHOW.
So the US should be involved in conflicts in the Middle East, Central Asia, Africa, and Burma. How about going to war against China since the Uyghurs and Tibetans live under tyranny too? Let us not forget North Korea, Venezuela, and Cuba.
