It has now made about $15 million, but had a cost of over $40 million.

It’s a great movie about a “salt-of-the-earth” guy. We loved the movie because it describes the kind of earnest, sometimes bumbling guy everyone has known, who seeks to do good while others push him down.

Please get yourself and others out to see this. We really enjoyed it.

You will be among like-minded friends in your theater.

So the film puts this female reporter in a bad light. Is the controversy about something real or the casting of a modern female in a bad light?

“”””The film faced criticism over its depiction of a real-life female reporter, Kathy Scruggs, who is played by actress Olivia Wilde. “””””””””””

Yeah, we wouldn’t want any exaggerations in movies since it has never happened before. /sheldon

Should have been an HBO Feature, rather than playing in Cinemas.

I’m a big fan of Clint Eastwood. But it’s hard for me to get excited about a movie when I know ahead of time exactly how it will play out.

It has now made about $15 million, but had a cost of over $40 million.

That's 37.5% of the cost, which seems not bad.

Typically, it looks like movies make around 25% to 35% of their total on opening weekend. I doubt Clint Eastwood will lose money on this.

I saw it with my wife. There is a scene in it that shows the lying FBI did the same thing to General Flynn in 2017 that they tried to do to Jewell in 1996. This movie’s problems show us and remind us that the media still has some power and our fight to crush them once and for all is still on. They smothered this movie; okay they win this round, but the fight goes on. BTW 7800 of these media maggots lost their job in just 2019 alone so we are making progress.

This is how the left thinks. The reason for the small revenue is that the events took place in 1996, and have been largely forgotten. Plus, the left did all it could (illustrated here) to trash or ignore the movie.

End of the year release for Oscar consideration.

If it manages some Oscar nominations and or awards, the boxoffice can uptick rather quickly.

It was a good movie. Timely too, with the dishonesty of the FBI and media.

It is a GREAT movie......
....the liberal MSM and Hollywood does not want you to see Eastwood’s hard hitting, truthful masterpiece!

It really is a ‘must see’

"Richard Jewell" follows the story of the titular character, a security guard who was initially hailed as a hero but then suspected of planting a bomb at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. Jewell was later exonerated.

Oddly, this fits the Shakespearean definition of a comedy, where things get worse and worse for the main character until the middle of Act III, then improve towards the end.

In contrast, in a Shakespearean tragedy, the fortunes of the main character improve for a while, but climax and turn down in Act III until the end. Think of Brutus in "Julius Caesar."

Richard Jewell is a modern tragedy, nevertheless.

When the DVD hits, the movie will be a glowing success. His audience no longer goes to see movies on the big screen. They prefer to watch the movie in the comfort of their own home, without the nonsense that is so prevalent in movie theaters anymore.

Plan to see this movie in the next few days. Being retired my preference is to go to the cinema mid-week and see the early afternoon showing … many times there are only a dozen or so people in attendance.

Good movie. When the FBI walked in and saw his “arsenal” laid out on his bed, I said to my wife “I’ve got a lot more than that”. Guy next to me laughed out loud and said “In my truck!”.
