“After her parents separated, Marin was brought up by her mother and her mother’s new female partner.”

Thanks, I figured something was out of whack. I guess this is her way of getting back at men.

Congrat’s! but I believe their is a huge difference between running a “fixed” business that has one goal of selling it’s service or widget as opposed to leading an entire country . The apple to orange old saying comes to mind . Would it be a safe assumption that you ran it on a conservative basis ? rather than a touchy / feeley new world approach?

Great, however, did you need to generate enough revenue to completely fund:

every entitlement program in your country, mass infrastructure for the country you operated in, your country's defense budget, resources for the refugees that are imported, entire health care system, pensions, etc...

If not, then not the same situation that this lady is responsible for (And that is just on the revenue side...). Going by common sense regarding the unintended consequences that will be unleashed (Unless she cuts 70% or so from budget), the lady is not really making a lot of fiscal sense already.

Who the heck would put a 34 years old in charge of a hardware store? Let alone an entire nation?

Presidents, governors, &c. are NOT in charge of entire nations. They are in charge of its government. Much as I admire President Trump, he cannot tell me what to do. The owner of your hardware store can surely tell every one of his employees what to do.

Translation: There is not enough work/jobs in Finland, so with “flexible hours”, 4 days for six hours, there will be many hours left to give to more workers. /semi sarc

For how many decades in how many ways will Finland keep thinking there is a “workers paradise” somewhere, in some economic formula, if only they can find it?

Finland - Monty Python

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Pony trekking or camping,
Or just watching TV,
Finland, Finland, Finland,
It’s the country for me.You’re so near to Russia,
So far from Japan,
Quite a long way from Cairo,
Lots of miles from Vietnam.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Eating breakfast or dinner,
Or snack lunch in the hall,
Finland, Finland, Finland,
Finland has it all. You’re so sadly neglected,
And often ignored,
A poor second to Belgium,
When going abroad.Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
Your mountains so lofty,

Your treetops so tall,
Finland, Finland, Finland,
Finland has it all.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
Your mountains so lofty,
Your treetops so tall,
Finland, Finland, Finland,
Finland has it all.Finland has it all...

I ran one when I was 29. Did not stay long due to other personal/family issues.

Okay, so maybe things won’t be so bad once we hand the countryy over to Millennials. Sure, productivity will plummet, but we’ll spend less time on the job, having to think about it.

Good for Finland! I hope it succeeds.

Surprised to see so many here mocking the idea of shorter work days and work weeks, despite the fact that this has been the trend throughout all of human history.

Why not go all the way, 1 hour per week!

Why not go all the way, 1 hour per week!

Eventually, that's all we will need.

I call it the "Star Trek" future in which computers and machines do most of the work. A small population of highly-educated technicians are needed only to ensure the machines are running smoothly. Most of our time is freed up for leisure or scholarly pursuit.

The problem will be what to do with the vast population of laborers whose skills are no longer needed?
