Musk is a genius at bilking taxpayers of our money and getting government to happily go along with it.

I assume you’ve heard the joke...

If someone steals a Tesla, does it then become an ‘Edison’?

Ironic that President Trump would liken Musk (the maker of Tesla) with Edison, who became a rival of the real Tesla.

Edison was the better marketer and showman. Tesla was arguably the more brilliant of the two.

I don't fault Musk for pushing the electric car; he's capitalizing on a market trend, and making some innovations in doing so. I still think that at it's barest essence, the genius of Musk is geographically separating the smokestack from the coal powered car, and selling it as a clean alternative to fossil fuels.

I posit that Nikola Tesla was the most important genius.

Too bad his discoveries have not been thoroughly dissected throughout the years as mankind would be considerably further along with respect to technology, especially energy.

Musk is what he is — a visionary. Everyone here seems to think fooling the government to help subsidize his industry is something new. Check out the history of the Transcontinental Railroad with Thomas Durant and Collis Huntington — that was super corruption and tax payer bilking. Makes what Musk does seem like child’s play.

I’d have to agree. Anyone who can bilk the feds out of 6 billion dollars has something going on.

Say what you will about Musk, he’s one of the few guys in Silicon Valley still dreaming big and swinging for the fences. For that, I appreciate him. Everyone else is just busy trying to build worthless social media apps and praying they get bought up before their funding runs out.

Musk also has an idea for faster global internet by using a network of satellites. He is a genius who can think out of the box. I agree with President Trump — Musk is a genius. Love him or hate him, he is a brilliant person.

I disagree with the president on this one. Edison did most everything on his own, or private money. Musk has done most everything on government (yours and my) money.

This is actually a rather clever insult. Edison is largely see now as a shameless self promoter that clung to a flawed technology out of hubris and waged PR war to and destroy his opposition

No question, he’s eccentric but when NASA was saying it would take a generation or more to get back to the moon and lost the ability to launch anything manned Musk said “Hold my beer, I’ll do it” and created his own rocket ship that works. That’s no dummy there.
