LOL, we’ve had this conversation. Not to be harsh but really, you are clueless as far as the military is concerned because you think they operate by the same laws and rules as do civilians.

Do yourself a favor and read thru the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) and see for yourself how different military justice is then civilian.

This is a good way to find out who the rotten apples are. This is no doubt going to generate chatter.

This is a clear indication that the round boy has a high level sponsor, or sponsors within the upper ranks of the Army who are seeking to keep him and have him promoted.

Or this could just be a place to stuff him until they figure out what they want to do with him administratively. War college is nice, but it is not necessarily a career enhancer, as its not a leadership position and its not a forward deployed position. Its one of the cushy CONUS assignments that guys who rotate back from OCONUS can compete for.

Its been one working day since Vindman was escorted out of the NSC job and returned to the Pentagon. I'd wait a bit before I made any assumptions that he has only a smooth road ahead.

“A very bureaucratic solution, he’s there a year or so. He gets his bird.”

We’ll see what happens when that proposed list for Colonel hits the President’s desk in his second term, when he doesn’t have to worry about reelection.

“How happy would General Milley be with Trump deciding Army personnel matters?”

You mean the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces? LOL

They can set anyone up to fail and run them out. I’ve seen it in Army politics and they do it well.

Patton, Eisenhower....but I’m sure it’s nothing like it was. Looks like they’re just getting him out of Town.

By being selected for war college he’s assured of making O-6...means he’s in the top third of his year group.

I thought below the flag rank was a service responsibility. Flag rank was for the President & Congress.

Some of the military brass might be happy to follow orders to seize legal weapons, but they aren’t the ones who would be on the ground rounding the weapons up.

Don’t believe for an instant that all the lower level officers and NCOs would blindly follow illegal orders like that. If anything, the brass giving that kind of order would be the ones being escorted to a brig.

It’s not Trump’s Pentagon, it’s still Mattis’s. People there will take steps like this just to show their disdain for the President.

Agree. I’m reading a lot of wishful thinking and sunshine pumping in this thread. Just yesterday someone here telling me Vindman’s career was in trouble. Obviously, it’s not. Before this is over Vindman will be decorated for his starring role in The Resistance (TM). Guaranteed.

He was probably selected before all the publicity.

No, the Army War College slection board was here at Ft Knox and was in session Feb 2-Feb 7...right in the middle of the impeachment trial.

No, this is a prestigious assignment and not one given to an officer whose actions are already questionable.

The orders should be rescinded and he should more appropriately be assigned to an absolutely nothing desk job in a low level administrative unit until his fate is decided.

They don’t place anyone with his notoriety in a plum assignment that should go to a more deserving officer unless someone higher up is pulling the strings.

It has only been one working day but letting the assignment stand will be detrimental to the Army.

Sadly, no. It’s just more evidence that POTUS has very little control of the executive branch.
