I’ve been a Democrat for 20 years. Here’s what I experienced at Trump’s rally in New Hampshire.

.....So I headed over an hour and a half before the doors were scheduled to open (which was 4 hours before Trump was set to take the stage) and the line already stretched a mile away from the entrance to the arena. As I waited, I chatted with the folks around me. And contrary to all the fears expressed, they were so nice! I was not harassed or intimidated and was never in fear of my safety even for a moment. These were average everyday people. They were veterans, school teachers, and small business owners and they had come from all over the place for the thrill of attending this rally. They were upbeat and excited. In chatting, I even let it slip that I was a democrat and the reaction was “Good for you! Welcome!”

-snip-

As I left the rally ... I knew that there was no way Trump was going to lose in November. Absolutely no way. I truly believe that it doesn’t matter who the Democrats nominate: Trump is going to trounce them. If you don’t believe me, attend one of his rallies and see for yourself. Don’t worry, they really won’t hurt you........

Today, I voted in the New Hampshire Democratic Primary for Pete Buttigieg....But tomorrow, I’ll be changing my voter registration from Democrat to Independent and walking away from the party I’ve spent the last 20 years in to sit in the middle for a while.

...and I found it very interesting that she thinks there are haters on both sides.

Sadly, some of the posts on this thread have proven her right.

...but I’m going to vote in VAs when it rolls around, for Bernie.

Likewise.

I'll warn you, though, that both parties in VA keep track of what ballot you request in a primary and will use that to determine your political persuasion. I voted for Obama in the primary in 2008 because I thought he would be easier to beat than Hillary. When I later became a Republican precinct captain and got access to the party's voter information I was listed as a hard Dem and suddenly understood why so many Dem losers started showing up at my door and calling me around election time.

Thanks for posting a sane and truthful article. Trump is hard to like at times but he is what he is and he is doing exactly what he said he would do.

The left is way off the tracks with this coup impeachment and Russian collusion fantasy. You know when a proud socialist is leading the democrat pack that they have some big problems.

I hope the democrats wake up after Trump buries them in a land slide this fall because if they don’t wake up and return to sanity we will end up for all intent and purpose a single party system.

I really do not want to see any one party with that powerful in our nation.

I will read more of her articles when I can find them.

Excellent. The whole essay is worth a read.

While I’ve never heard of the website (Medium) I thought it rather interesting that just about all the comments were very pro President Trump.

There’s not one Rat that can’t become a conservative by just pulling their head out of their ass.

Yes, he said he did. He also says he is changing his affiliation to Independent and will vote for President Trump in November. Did he? Will he? Don’t know. I don’t quite get how someone who says he voted for the socialist BootyGig could abandon the fag candidate and all he stands for then later vote for President Trump. If you got your mind right why cast a vote for any socialist democrat at all? Why would you not abstain? Change your affiliation and then later vote for President Trump. This story just doesn’t add up for me.

It was too late to change party affiliation to vote in the primary so if you're going to vote, vote for the person who you think is least likely to win against Trump.

I can see the value in that.

Good for this person for learning and walking away.

I'll take it.

Didn’t say they would vote for Trump. Only said they were changing their registration

Great article and surprising comments following.

The comments are certainly worth reading, very reasoned, well thought out, and expressed.

The author is right about leftist knitters. A large online knitting group banned Trump supporters from their site last summer.

I enjoyed this and I read every word. I can identify with this because this is how my own life changed. This is similar to the way my own former liberal ideology began to crumble. I simply got tired of forcing myself to swallow the viewpoints of the left to be a “good” person. It was like taking something vile because you think you “need” it. Let me be assure you that is why they are liberal. They think they are “better” because they are more “modern” and more “just” and “open-minded” than other more “closed-minded” people. She looks very young so maybe it will snowball for her someday.

I wish her all the luck in the world with walking away from the Democrat Party.

That’s exactly what I intend to do as an independent voter in NC’s primary.

I wish her all the luck in the world with walking away from the Democrat Party.

I wish her all the luck in the world with withstanding the peer pressure that will be coming her way.

When Jesse Taylor got baptized in Cedar Creek last Sunday; he found that his old friends were at first skeptical; then they started to drift away, as he stood his ground.
