The Bloomberg Campaign Is a Waterfall of Cash
New York Times via Yahoo! News ^ | February 14, 2020 | by Rebecca R. Ruiz, The New York Times

MIAMI - In a warehouse covered in murals in the Design District here, cater waiters served wine and platters of Cuban sandwiches, summer rolls and kosher pigs in a blanket. They wore all black but for red, white and blue T-shirts reading “I Like Mike Bloomberg.”

Before the candidate took the stage - set against an oversize painting reading “Mike 2020” that a local artist had been paid thousands to produce in 36 hours - the former mayor of Miami Beach, Philip Levine, introduced him.

Bloomberg, the multibillionaire behind Bloomberg LP, has poured hundreds of millions of dollars into the race, paying to make his voice omnipresent on television and radio. He has deployed his corporation in service of his campaign, reassigning employees from the various arms of his empire and recruiting new ones with powerful financial incentives, including full benefits and salaries well above national campaign norms.

Entry-level field organizing work for Bloomberg, for example, pays $72,000 annually - nearly twice what other campaigns have offered. In under 12 weeks, Bloomberg’s operation has grown to a staff of thousands, with more than 125 offices around the country and a roster of slick events featuring swag, drinks and canapés.

Such spending has helped make Bloomberg an increasingly strong contender in the Democratic presidential primary.

With money like that —
I think he can attract staffers.
But I still don’t think he can attract voters.

And most of it is being spent here in Florida. Sick of him already. He calls Trump a tyrant when he changed the law in nyc so he could run a third term. I despise this little man .

Anyone think that Bloomberg has offered to hire most of Biden’s campaign staff, assume Biden’s campaign debts, and pay Biden himself a huge “senior consultant” fee, if and only if Biden withdraws from the race by March 1. Bloomberg wants a clear field by Super Tuesday. May make a similar offer to Warren.

He’s the Dems choice. And he’s Wall Street’s choice for the Dem ticket. They’re going to find a way to push Bernie out.

I would tend to agree except for the weak fieald of candidates he’s running against. They are all so bad that Blooberg’s money may actually be able to attract voters and buy him the nomination.

With stronger candidates on the Dem side it wouldn’t be that easy to diminish his opponents and pry votes away, even with his vast wealth.

I agree. The Dem establishment is 100% certain that Bernie cannot beat Trump. They’ll find a way to get rid of him. Maybe buy him a yacht to go along with his two homes and his “retreat” on the lake.

Bernie the Socialist can be bought.

History says no amount of money can buy an election. Heck our history says no amount of money can even buy a nomination.

Always a first time, but as was said above, no amount of money can buy enthusiasm, or voters.

“Rebuild America?”

Sorry, Bloomturd, you gun grabbing Nazi, obnoxious, arrogant, condescending little p*ick, but President Trump already rebuilt the country.

Now go back to Munchkin Land, you twerp!

And most of it is being spent here in Florida.

A reasonable guess, but I suspect that it's going on nationwide or nearly so. You can't turn on TV or radio in California without being hit with a Bloomie ad within 5 or 10 minutes. The man has flooded broadcast media in an unprecedented way. I've never seen anything like it. Bloomie 2020 is test-case for whether a freespending gazillionaire can buy his way to the presidency. Tom Steyer's lackluster performance suggested that the answer was no, but Steyer is a piker compared to Bloomie. Bloomie is going "all in" with a shock and awe campaign that the likes of which neither party has ever seen.

Not true. I refer you to Joseph P. Kennedy’s well known purchase of critical West Virginia to help his son win the presidency. Old Joe was quoted as saying “Don’t buy one more vote than necessary”.

Trump didn’t have to spend like this to win the RNC nomination in 2016.

Trump didn’t use his wealth to beat Hillary in the general election either.

It shows a clear contrast between Trump and Bloomberg.

"he's Wall Street's choice"

Bloomberg's current adds are for gross expansion of Obummer Care, beyond Hussein's bill.

How does millions of people losing their jobs and a crash of the housing market again (foreclosures) fit into Wall Street's plan?

Just telling you what financial people are saying.
Obviously they don’t all want Bloomberg, but if you don’t like Trump, Bloomberg is their choice for the ticket.
