Now apply this to healthcare. Today, the Dems are seeking give "free" healthcare to non-Americans who are here illegally. There's literally only one step remaining in the process: Democrats will decry the social injustice of proximity discrimination. "The sick and the elderly who cannot manage to cross our borders illegally are unjustly left out of this benefit. This hateful xenophobia must end!!"
And just like that, the American Middle Class taxpayers will be on the hook for all medical care for all of the poor, across the globe. There is no other "next step". (The poor pay nothing, of course... and "the rich pay nothing, because they have the lawyers and accountants and are vile and selfish" (in the left's eyes).... so only the Middle will pay.)
But the logic will still be applied to other areas. Those who broke our laws in other ways must also be given perks. Non-Citizens will continue to be given benefits that Americans are not. One that has already been accomplished is that the children of illegals are only charged in-state tuition, whereas the children of out-of-state American citizens are charged about twice as much. Come here illegally from Honduras or Liberia, and you get the best rates. Come to our school lawfully from 50 miles away, over a state line, and you pay double.
Yup, that's how the socialists operate - by incrementalism. I can see the mass produced signs now for their protests. Healthcare is a Right. Healthcare for All People. Healthcare Has No Boundaries. Healthcare For The World. Stop The Pain - Healthcare For All. Save The Children - World Healthcare.
