Well that may be by design as well. My guess is that with that virus going around then he is being isolated more. Just a Theory. But I have often seen him walking through some of the crowd on his way out and shaking hands.

I know one time I was surprised by a side view - the people who looked like they were immediately behind him were actually a good 20’ away.

The sound system inside the arena is terrible. Hard to understand at times anyone tonight including the President.
