Governor Andrew Cuomo said he is open to giving DMV data to the federal government as the ongoing issue between the state and feds continue over the Green Light Law.
“open”, what does that mean in this case I wonder.

depends on what he’s “offering”. last I heard he was not going to provided DMV records for all, just the small handful of people applying. This is not what ICE requires to keep people safe. So I think this is a ruse.

Wouldn't surprise me. Wouldn't surprise PDJT either, I'll warrant. I doubt he'll be taken in by Cuomo BS. He lived in NYC through the reign of his father, after all.
I think the 200,000 people that use this ae big business donors and are giving cumo a hard time. But he is still holding out for only a "partial" release which the ICE director in NY said yesterday that this was not sufficient.
As I stated before on another thread, Cuomo was getting hammered by most of the County Clerks in the state the minute they enacted this stupid piece of legislation. And most of the Clerks are Dems!

No, the DMV is not federal. But the federal government has the right and responsibility in matters of immigration. The issue here is an edict from Albany says the county clerks must hand out driver’s licenses to literally ANYONE - especially illegals - with no way of validating their information.
It is right now more difficult to transfer your ID from a different state as an American than it is to simply walk across the Rio Grande, and make it to the first DMV in NY.
Once in NY you can go (and/or vote) anywhere. Since this legislation was passed, there has been a public uproar from County Clerks, Sheriffs, and even Canadians (common border with NY).
This is why the federal government is involved. In real legal terms, the State of New York is forcing county clerks to engage in what some may call human-trafficking - all for the sake of planting more bodies in NY to avoid losing even more representation in Congress.
And that, my friend, is more than just my $0.02.

Ok thanks for the info FRiend. And I can understand the canadian side, as I’m from there originally. The border guards and immigration there just wont let you in easily and will grill you with Q’s on why you’re visiting etc.
