We use to take Chloroquine when doing missions in Africa.

I remember one trip were a coworker was taking his pills as directed, we had to up his dose to treat him for malaria.

Sides effects are real when you up the dose.

When I worked in Africa in the late 1990’s no one was taking chloroquine as the skeeters had built up resistance to the drug. We were taking mefloquine (Lariam), and it was pretty effective although most people, (myself included) had some pretty weird side affects...nightmares, blurred vision, and other stuff.

I stopped taking Larium because it bothered my so much and went back to chloroquine and came down with a raging case of malaria. Nasty stuff!
