Israels leading drug producer announced Thursday it will donate 6 million doses of anti-malaria drugs to the United States in hopes that it could be helpful treating coronavirus symptoms.
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries says the drug could potentially treat people with the coronavirus and will ship the hydroxychloroquine tablets through wholesalers nationwide by the end of the month and will provide 10 million doses in total, according to Breitbart News.
We are committed to helping to supply as many tablets as possible as demand for this treatment accelerates at no cost, Teva Executive Vice President Brendan OGrady said about the move.
President Trump has expressed support and optimism for potential treatments, including malaria drugs chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine.
Were going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately, Trump told the nation on Thursday during a White House coronavirus task force briefing.
Stephan Hahn, the head of the Food and Drug Administration, clarified that testing is underway but noted he did not "want to speculate about a timeline."

Have the Jew haters Tlaib and Omar come out against this humanitarian offer?
This is an excellent move for Teva from a PR standpoint. They are in the midst of a massive opioid-related suit mounted by the usual ambulance chasers. While bit player in the painkiller biz because of its status as a generics manufacturer completely uninvolved in marketing, it has nonetheless been targeted by shysters and state AG’s looking for a big payday.
Dont tell Dr Fraud hell have it confiscated.
I was talking about for people who are in the hospital already in critical condition...
Amazing!
The medical bureaucracy has seized control of the lives of every American, but they are unwilling to alter their procedures for approving new treatments. Is this an emergency or is it not?
It is not like this is some bizarre potion from the lab of some crackpot. This is a standard drug that has proven safe and effective for the treatment of other viruses.
France, South Korea, China, Poland and Australia are already using this to treat the Wuhan coronavirus. Israel too apparently.
These are the fools that caused this crisis but not permitting anyone but the incompetent CDC bureaucrats to develop and produce test kits.
Perhaps.
Another explanation is many years of anticipating the worst possible legal outcome, and wanting to be on the legally safe side, instead of the medically probable side. Saying you followed established protocol cuts off lawsuits, even if the patient dies under that protocol.
Greed or fear? Hard to tell.
Either way, it seems like bureaucracy is getting in the way.
We need to proceed with haste to deploy these drugs, letting doctors on scene use their best judgment. Its not like we dont already have decades of experience with any potential side effects.
I wonder what the current American stockpile is.
I will withhold judgement for now. I’m sure that he understands that the entire country is watching his every move. When streamlining a process we need to be careful about the shortcuts that we take. Especially with so much on the line. We want to get this shipment distributed ASAP, but we also want to make sure it is safe. Can you imagine what would happen if this shipment is somehow contaminated?
Bayer AG (Germany) donated millions too. It was posted earlier in the week on FR
Why aren’t our Republican representatives out front in proposing a blanket protection against tort liability for all medical professionals and organizations providing good faith treatment for Wuhan coronavirus patients.
Thank you Israel
As of yesterday, CDC, 15,xxx cases confirmed (out of what...340MIL?)
So, as I see it, this donation from Israel should take care of ALL (God Bless Israel) and then some.
Thank you Israel.

Enough profit margin for the Israelis...why not here?
Saying you followed established protocol cuts off lawsuits, even if the patient dies under that protocol.

Bureaucracies always put process over production. I understand their concerns over liability and bad press, but these agencies are by and large staffed by people who are always hiding behind protocols, procedures and processes. The need for order often camouflages other agendas.
Well said.
