Up to next Monday (roughly) when we can see what we have accomplished with isolation the impact of which is going to be several orders of magnitude greater than any drugs no matter how effective. Isolation is the key.
The ability of this virus to KILL and the operative word here is KILL is limited in HUGE part to the elderly and those with 2 or more exidting serious health problems. Are there exceptions? Of course there always are.
Destroying the economy and along with it the futures of millions and millions of people is NOT worth the effort of saving a few and even THOUSANDS of lives as long as so many other measures are available.
Let the elderly and otherwise health challenged self isolate (I am one as is my wife) and as for the young and healthy let them go back to work. Everyone can practice social distancing and everyone if they feel poorly can stay home. Some whose affliction is worthy of a test can be tested and if positive they can be medicated (and sent home.
This whole thing is obviously and deliberately over hyped.

Oh bullsh*t!!! The virus has been circulating where we live in Eastern King County for at least the last 3 months. It was brought back here by the half million Chinese living here who frequently visit home and bring back whatever is making the rounds there. Fortunately this one does not cause any symptoms in half the population, another 30% have symptoms mild enough that they are still running around spreading it. Kids and young adults have no idea they are “sick”.
My wife and I have both worked and volunteered at the Life Care Center in Kirkland where this virus first hit a vulnerable group of people. The question here is not if you are going to get it, but whether you already had it or not. The tests that they give now give no indication whether you had it and already got over it. If it were not for advanced testing techniques this would not have been recognized as anything other than a normal flu season. This is absolute and total madness!
When no real crisis materializes we will be left with the massive cost of this nonsense. Politicians will be taking credit for "saving" us when their actions will have had negligible if any effect on the progression of the virus.
