I have COPD so I always use a mask when I mow the lawn..
I needed to get the mowing so I could go fishing but I was out of mask.. No problem, I found a used one in the barn that look to be in good shape.. So, I used it.. BAD mistake..! Lung infection... It took over two weeks to get the gunk out of my lungs...
Boys and girls, NEVER reuse an old face mask..!
ooohhhh...scary mask! Ha Ha.
I have one of those in my emergency bag. More for smoke than germs...but whatever.
I figured we would see more of them.
Mold infection?
Well now we can help with them, we called the local hospital and another state health agency here in Oregon, nope can't take even one as the date on them has expired. Remember they are brand new in the box, unopened.
We are advised to wash our hands with soap and water. Nuff said.
I bought a box of Masks on Amazon a while back just to get the total up for the free shipping ,LOL
Thailand?

Ay..!! I would have tried cleaning/rinsing it first.
Just the dust laying around would be a mess
The doc never said.. But lots of 500mg "Amoxicillin" did the trick..
I think your right...probably mold.
Travis McGhee suggested using the HEPA grade vacuum cleaner bags cut to form. The pleated HEPA filters are harder to work with once you cut their perimeter seal.
Heat from the iron would kill the virus. After a few weeks or so, the virus would die on it’s own on surfaces.
OTOH, those people are probably infected and in turn added to the virus count on the masks and packaging.
