Massie’s opposition to the USMCA was a great example of how futile and pointless his principles are. The USMCA wasn’t a new trade deal established out of thin air. It was a trade deal to replace another agreement
where the flaws you describe already existed. Is it too much to expect a legislator to put aside his noble principles and support a bill that may not be perfect but makes a fouled-up situation even a little bit better?
Massie acts like a football coach whose team is behind by a touchdown with two minutes on the clock and has the ball on their own 20 yard line. He refuses to run a play that gets him 15 yards downfield because he will only consider plays that will go the entire 80 yards to the end zone.
