Thanks for posting. I started 1,000 IU daily of D3 a couple weeks ago. I went back through all my lab test records and do not find any D3 workup in the past 10 years. I really don’t want to bother my doc and lab with a needless test, so I’m wondering if I should stick with 1,000 or up it.
The article says “Depending on blood levels, anywhere between 1,000 and 4,000 IU of supplemental vitamin D per day is sufficient for most people.”
I do not take a single supplement of any kind, just eat lot of fruits and veggies. I am relying on aerobic exercise 4 times every week. No health problems whatsoever, and getting ready to celebrate 80 candles. Wish I could do that on my 40th cruise, but sadly can’t do it right now.
Some people need more...I take around 10K WITH K2 a day (a must)...but I get tested 2x a year
Read up on that.
I'm doing 2000IU daily, plus dietary sources. There aren't a lot of dietary sources - fortified milk [about 80-100IU per 8oz cup], and fatty fish like salmon and sardines.
You need the blood test
my vit D gets down to 8-9 in winter- i never feel any different- but docs get all bent out of shape about it- so i take 50,000 once a week for awhile, get level back up- feel no difference, but docs seem happier then- oh well- I guess it does something-
in the winter its generally safer to up it because you get less sunlight than the rest of the year.
