Iceland has tested one-tenth of its population for coronavirus at random and found that half of people have the disease without realising.

They also discovered that 1,600 people have been infected with Covid-19 since the start of the outbreak. Of these cases, there were only seven deaths, indicating a fatality rate of just 0.004 per cent, which is significantly lower than other countries, including the UK.

The findings were made during Iceland's rigorous testing campaign, conducted with the help of Reykjavik-based biopharmaceutical company deCODE genetics, which has seen 10 per cent of the 364,413 population swabbed, something yet to be achieved by any other nation.

As far as I know, no test for antibodies is available yet.

Lot’s of research going on in that area, however.

Nope. 7 out of 1600 is 0.438 percent and NOT 0.004 percent. What PISS POOR WRITING!

Not based on fact but just what I have seen with coworkers, family and friends, I think they will find via antibody testing, we have been getting infected since late December and did not know it. Called it the flu, cold, hangovers, whatever.

“You need herd immunity, and you don’t get that by having lockdowns.”

They're going to pull the same crap next year. I'm expecting them to start honking about Mosquitoes carrying the virus next. This will be one continual scam to frighten our now feminized country.

“As far as I know, no test for antibodies is available yet.”

Stanford medical researchers have recently begun testing one (on 3000 subjects), and say that results should be obtained in the next week or two. This has gotten a lot of press recently, especially around here (California).

There are several tests for the COVID-19 antibodies at current. The FDA has been slow to approve them, though there are several already in use in Europe.

The article does point out that the test came from the native Icelandic pharmaceutical company.

Where does Johns Hopkins hide the “Number of Tests?”

I can't find that any place on JHU’s COVID-19 Dashboard.

Thank you!

Right? You'd expect them to say something more along the lines of contracted the illness.

I also find it very weird how they've inserted the term "tested positive" into our consciousness and lexicon.

Don't ever remember hearing "tested H1N1 positive"

Should I conclude that the addition of antibody testing would make the number higher and more accurate?

“I think they have a decimal point problem with that mortality percentage.”

The whole article is a journalism-math train wreck. 10% sample of 364,000 = 36,400 people. The article says 50% of the sample tested positive (testing positive requires “having been infected”). That would be 18,200. “They also discovered that 1,600 people have been infected with Covid-19 since the start of the outbreak.” 1,600/36,400 = 4.4%.

How can they know that?

Seen this previously, this is daily mail and they frequently mislead with the title.

Only 1600 people have tested positive for the virus, half of those show no symptoms.

They're sneaky.

Go to the bottom of the right most tab. There's a button with < US Hospitalized > click either arrow.

It was testing to see if they either had it at the time or had had it. Many people had had it and didn’t even know it.

The Daily Mail is the equivalent of the National Enquirer.

While the National Enquirer got the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal right, they have a rather piss-poor track record of reporting something truthful.

Daily Mail should be viewed through the same lens as the National Enquirer, IMO.

If this story exists elsewhere, I'd really like to see it.

Re: Antibodies

Thanks for the link.

I retract and apologize.

What I should have said is that no one appears to be releasing their data, or making vigorous claims for their data, anyway.

“Many people had had it and didn’t even know it.”

The $2,300,000,000,000.00 question: How long ago did they get it?
