I agree with that.

If Trump is overly optimistic and encourages everyone to open right away, if it goes badly, it will bite him badly.

If some governors want to open, they can. And Trump can sound careful and cautious. If it goes well, that doesn’t hurt Trump. If it goes horribly wrong and millions die, Trump can say, “I wanted to be more cautious”.

Everyone gets what they want. I imagine GA is getting something out this by going first.

To me it’s a bit like Mikey in the Life Cereal commercial.

“I’m not gonna try it, you try it.”
“YOU try it.”
“He likes it! Hey, Mikey!”

If this is not a disaster governors wanting to open in the first few days of May can plausibly argue that they are not too early.

If what goes badly? The hospital crises has been dealt with. We now have to deal with the economic crises! These nuts want to take this crises into August! It will never end for these tyrants until the entire economy is destroyed! Trump needs to stop worrying about infections and worry about the health of the economy.

‘Trump can say, “I wanted to be more cautious”.

in other words ‘you guys at the Times and CNN were right; we can’t open up yet, Kemp screwed up...’
