Poll: Georgians back shelter-in-place, oppose rollback of restrictions
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 4/28/20 | Greg Bluestein

A broad majority of Georgia voters support a statewide shelter-in-place to combat the spread of the coronavirus, according to a University of Georgia survey released as Gov. Brian Kemp debates whether to extend stay-at-home orders set to expire Thursday night.

The survey found about one-half of registered Georgia voters support the mandate that took effect April 3, and an additional one-quarter of voters “somewhat back it.” Only about 10% of Georgians oppose the idea; the rest are neutral or undecided.

And roughly 62% of Georgia voters disapprove of Kemp’s decision to ease restrictions on restaurants, theaters and close-contact businesses such as barbershops and nail salons over the past week, a measure that was strongly criticized by Democratic leaders, prominent local mayors and President Donald Trump.

I am intrigued that even Trump criticizing Kemp did not give democrats pause.

I was hoping some sort of reverse psychology-ops at work might make Democrats unwilling to agree with Trump.

oh well.

“...an online survey of 1,233 registered Georgians was conducted between April 21 and 25...”

In other words ... bullshit.

I can see the people who responded to the number to essentially saying “it is just two more weeks, we can all get Through this together as a community helping each other.” Never mind the fact that they have been seeing “just two more weeks” sent sometime in March and the same people will be seeing it in August as well.

Sorry, but the FIRST thing they must do is forego the FREE LUNCHES etc, stop the bonus of 600 with Unemployment, put the limit on unemployment etc etc...

QUIT hinting more money flowing to ANYBODY, get accurate counts on deaths etc etc...TAKE MONEY away from # of cases.

FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Chris Plante was commenting on some ‘journalist’ moaning and groaning about all the rain and how the Metro DC area was beginning to resemble Seattle with the rain every day and he/she/it ‘has never seen it so bad in her lifetime’.

Chris had to remind him/her/it

APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS which has been ‘in vogue’ for generations.....

I think this will be about lawsuits on businesses.(customers and employees to sue) Without tort reforms, the courts will be packed.

Would not necessarily believe this poll. Yet it is obvious that the majority of the people are frightened and will not come out unless they must. Still if there are many people who, given the choice and aware of the risks, wish to go forth in public and do what human beings do, then what is the point in stopping them? Eventually a herd immunity must develop to this virus as it has in all prior pandemics. Suspect many people under 50 are willing to go forward. Those who live with them should be aware of their decision and decide if they want to alter their living arrangements.

All our local restaurants are refusing to reopen, and the online reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. Just one person dared to say he wished he could go out to eat—and he got loads of flak.

11 people on the fire department that I retired from tested positive a month ago. 10 of them never developed any symptoms... The guy who had symptoms were from his hay fever. They now all test negative. And this is in Whimpsville Western Washington. What has happened to the South??? What a bunch of babies. They all should have their little bottoms spanked.

If you don’t mind me asking, which brewery is that? I’m outside of blue ridge and none of ours have opened yet. A couple of restaurants have but not all. I’ll be out for a bit so if I don’t reply immediately, that’s the reason.

The old “Atlanta Constitution” was once one of the most respected newspapers in our Nation, winning several Pulitzer Prizes, among other things.

It’s too bad what happened to it in more recent years. But its decline parallels the decline of American journalism in general!

And yet a few more threads down, another AJC article reporting malls are opening up in Atlanta Friday. The AJC, is trying to do a push poll.
And another thing, look for the numbers with the virus and deaths to be drastically inflated (more than now) the next couple weeks for states that decide to open Friday. To try and force them into another lockdown.

Working more — 12%

Working less — 25%

That’s really the problem. The governor can lift his shutdown order, but he can’t force businesses to open. And businesses will not open if most of their customers are still hiding under their beds waiting for Daddy to chase the monsters out of the closet.
