Karl Manke, a 77-year-old from Owosso, reopened his shop after he was turned down for unemployment.
Amid the legal threats from Whitmers administration, he recently responded, What, are they going to give me? Life? Ive got one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. I could care less.
As long as I have two hands and Im capable of cutting hair, thats my occupation, Manke said. Thats what I do. Thats what Im going to continue to do.

After the close of business on Tuesday, Whitmers administration stripped Manke of his operating license, his attorney said.
Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs has suspended Karls license, attorney David Kallman told radio host Steve Gruber.
Not thinking about it, theyve actually done it without a hearing, without any due process, he added, saying the action took place some time after 5:00 p.m.
Its an unbelievable abuse of power, Kallman said, arguing theres no legal basis for the action.
This is pure retribution by the governors office and by the AG. This is so petty and vindictive, its beyond the pale, he told Gruber.

Judge denies attorney generals demand to shut down Owosso barber shop
Licensing for ONLY cutting hair should be very simple or non existent. Once chemicals, such as for dying hair, or activities that touch the clients face, as with shaving, are involved, licensing should be more stringent.
If she will arbitrarily single out once citizen for destruction, she can do it to anyone. There are penalties on the books for what he did. A judge ruled in his favor. Based on that, she has no grounds to revoke his license.
We wonder in Michigan just who the Legislature represents.

Licensing. That was my thought also. Way to many required licenses in our society. You have to be licensed to work and play in the US.
$17 annually to put a canoe in the waters of Oregon. That’s only one of many hundreds and probably not the most ridiculous. Then again Oregon voters are getting the punishment they voted for just like Michigan.
Remember Karl!!! Should be the cry of freedom loving Michiganders
Pretty much. He needs to keep right on cutting hair. Force Stalin Whitmer to arrest him, especially now that Trump is on the case.
Ever see a 20mm Lahti?
I have, and shot a couple when I lived in the UP of Michigan.
Law Rockets? No problem in Michigan.
MG 42’s? Same.
This C&*t thinks her state police will save the day she is really in for a rude awakening.
Wheres our useless Justice Dept?
“My Dad was a barber for 30 years after 27 years in the Army.”
My father in law became a US Navy Doctor, WWII & Korea returned to the same small Illinois town where he was born and raised.
A returned US Army veteran was his barber; forever.
My wife took him for his last in town haircut before moving to assisted living.
Both men about age 90, they yacked and yacked...
He had about four more good years, I hope his friend did even more.
Thank you for reminding me.
I miss him.
Michiganders are no different from Americans everywhere. We love our families and want a good life today and a better life tomorrow for our kids.
We work hard, and we expect our government to work hard for us as well.
We have grit and value loyalty. And we still root for the Detroit Lions.
We -- and all Americans -- might be weary of today's politics, but we must stay engaged. Our country, our democracy, our future demand it. We are capable of great things when we work together. We cannot forget that despite the dishonesty and division of the last few years, together -- we have boundless potential.
And young Americans are proving that every day.
By taking action...
Remember. Listen to what people say -- but watch what they do. It's time for action.
This older American took action, and is proving that Whitmer was lying every day. She's not "weary of today's politics," she's reveling in it.

Here in NYS the businesses tug their forelocks and do as they’re told.
I’m losing my sympathy for biz owners who refuse to fight.
It’s just a good reminder of what happens when people sleep through election days.
well he should just go into his shop and continue cutting hair without a license.....
He’s already been licensed so he should just continue cutting hair anyway.. what are they going to do if he does? Put a wooden bar across the door he can take off and continue....until she arrests him...bail will be paid and continue..wash and repeat.
