And on and on and on..

I've always cringed at the concept of "non-essential" businesses. Earning a living is ESSENTIAL!

Who the hell gets to define what "non-essential" is anyways in regads to my ability to feed my family?

I remember the supply houses adding a fuel surcharge to everything back when fuel hit $4.00+ per gallon.

Small business profit margin is already a small margin. Now they have to buy masks and sanitizer/disinfectant and there’s labor involved with all that disinfecting. Someone’s gotta pay for it. Should be China but ...

Surcharges are dishonest, especially when they sneak them in after the fact. If you need to raise your prices, raise your prices. Showing low prices on the menu, then tacking on a fee afterwards is deceptive.

The airlines do this crap all the time with baggage fees and “no crappy middle seat” fees and other endless nuisance fees. They get away with it because a lot of companies have dumb travel policies that say “lowest coach fare” without taking into account these rather significant fees.

“But I am now making a serious effort to avoid Chinese goods wherever I can. I accept the fact that this will cost me money. I will pay extra money for products made in America because I want to help American businesses thrive.”

Good on ya. So are we. While some “official government action” punishing the Chinese would be great it is us, the American people, who hold the real power here.

Don’t buy goods made in China.

Have polite conversations with shop owners and store managers telling them you’re making serious and concerted efforts to purchase American made products. This information will make it up the corporate food chain.

Say out loud that you won’t buy Chinese made goods to your fellow shoppers. Remind them that the masks, “social distancing” and the gallons of hand sanitizer in their lives is because of China.

Stick a “Boycott China” sign in your yard. Say it loud and say it proud.

Call AND write your elected representatives at ALL levels demanding that they adopt Buy American policies.

Bring those communist bastards to their knees by denying them your hard earned dollars. Let them eat their T Bills.

And when the starving Chinese peasants drag their communist masters into the streets and tear them to pieces sit back and smile knowing you did your part.

Our dentist charged me extra, yesterday, for their PPE. Left me scratching my head. They always wear PPE. 😒

One of our favorite “Greek” restaurants just opened for takeout only. Previously completely shut down.
We’ve ordered togo several times and each time we’ve left a very good tip for the cashier that puts the order together. If I see a COVID surcharge, I won’t be going back until it’s off the bill. I don’t mind spending a like extra...but on the voluntary side only.

Yep. And China is already at war with us--minus the shooting, so far.

This is a dangerous time for the world.

It all comes down to the customer doing the paying because he/she is at the end of the line. So, if you are on fixed income(or worse)then I guess that means you don’t visit the establishments that are tacking on surcharges. That is the only recourse some of us will have. The government never settles for less tax; in fact they are continuously adding to the tax load, so that leaves only one recourse for those on fixed income. I would say it all comes back to the greed of the government. That seems to be the start of any & all increased cost in today’s economy.

Any place that charges $.25 for Yum is no place to go.

Yum should come with the meal.

I have a lot of food sensitivities and mr mm is on a sodium restricted diet so we carry our own food where ever we go.

It’s a little more work but it actually allows for a lot more freedom. You can stop where ever you like and know that you can have something to eat on hand.

And it’s a lot cheaper too, and you don’t have to worry about someone spitting in your food on you.

I grew up in Asia, and yet, Americans will NOT listen to me. Screw it all.

When it happens, it's not going to be pretty. If we go to war with China, we're going to have some huge losses initially, beyond's peoples' comprehension. If the nation sees the need to turn back to God right away when that happens, perhaps he might spare us and allow us to find a way to survive and overcome. If not, we're gone.

Agreed.

Ultimately, communism (in this case embodied by China) will have to go to war with free countries. It's a natural existential conflict in that communism and freedom cannot co-exist side-by-side.

Yes sir. The Democrats have become so despotic that liberals and conservatives can not either.
