These Are The Most Illogical Coronavirus Restrictions Still In Place

While most of the U.S. has begun to reopen, some parts of the country remain under burdensome restrictions that can’t be justified by either science or logic.

Most of New York, Michigan and the Washington D.C. metro area remains under lockdown through at least Memorial Day weekend. Some beaches in Virginia and New York reopened over the weekend, but Democratic New York Mayor Bill de Blasio made it clear that swimming is forbidden, saying beachgoers who swim in the ocean will “be taken right out of the water.”

“Obviously first and foremost, help make everyone remember don’t go in the water. You’re not supposed to go in the water,” de Blasio told reporters last week. “It’s a dangerous situation to ever go in the water when there’s not lifeguards present. If anyone tries to get in the water they’ll be taken right out of the water.”

New York recently allowed tennis courts to reopen, but with some bizarre restrictions. Restrictions include bans on doubles tennis matches and, as one Long Island official explained last week, a ban on touching your opponent’s tennis ball’s.

“You can kick their balls, but you can’t touch them,” Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said last week.

Virginia Beach was allowed to reopen for Memorial Day Weekend, but also had to adhere to stringent guidelines. These guidelines include a ban on alcohol at the beach, as well as bans on tents, umbrellas and even boomboxes.

Lots of jokes were told about the tennis ball regulations, how about how you should not touch another person’s balls Etc.

Putting aside suggestive imagery for a second, anyone who’s ever played tennis will have a good laugh about that business with the tennis balls. Errant tennis balls from the court next to you land on your court all the time. And just using common courtesy you frequently will pick up the balls of the players next to you and toss them back.

So now a routine common courtesy on the tennis court is illegal. It’s amazing what kind of crazy regulations some bureaucrat will come up with.

One thing is very clear. Democrats just love making restrictive regulations whenever they can. Obama did his best to kill capitalism with his executive orders and the innumerable regulations his commissars in Federal agencies issued daily. The COVID-19 pandemic has given the Democratic governors their turn.

Here is the most outrageous:

56 million aggregate unemployed Americans. Americans
are still banned from working in STEM fields, while foreign H1B scum from India and Communist China continue to arrive by the planeload. In fact, Air India had special flights to bring H1Bs to the US and while embassies and consulates worldwide were closed, those in India continued to process and award work visas.

Local Audobon opened for hiking but requires a mask when doing so.

Have sleep apnea and hike daily to get oxygen. A mask is worse then counter-productive.

I went to an open air plant sale this weekend here in MI, and was told a mask was required even though it was completely outdoors. I left.

Got one for ya. Here is Washington state they are forcing customers for fabric stores to stay outside the building and allowing the employees to bring out samples of requested products to be taken back in, if selected, and rung up to be brought packaged to the customer. Rain, cold...no concern. Joann’s started doing this yesterday.

You might not think this is so interesting. But these stores were pronounced essential as they provided, and are continuing to provide at this time, fabric, elastic, and other sewing needs to make masks. Yet at the mean time, we are less than a week from the projected start of phase II that the bar has been set so high it can’t be reached and the emperor inslee has already declared that pro sports teams can start workouts which violates the separation rules that many restaurants have to use which will hammer their bottom line further causing unemployment, lack of service, and retreating customers.

Like I mentioned in another post, his lowness king inslee of stupid sure knows where those campaign donations come from.

It looks like the sea temperature is 54°F, so no problem with the no swimming prohibition.

Most of these restrictions are simply demonstrations of power. That power will be retained even as the restrictions are eventually lifted so that Governors can do just about anything they want to do to disfavored groups or individuals in the future.

Boomboxes.

I suppose it doesn't matter at a crowded beach, since that is the occasion of social gatherings. but it never ceases to amaze me that idiots can't leave civilization behind when venturing into the wilderness. When I visit the wilderness, I enjoy the sound of water rushing over the rapids, the wind blowing through the trees, the chatter of the wildlife. Then along comes some moron blasting his moron music.

“You can kick their balls, but you can’t touch them . . .”

Sounds like a good rule to apply to liberal politicians . . . no?
