One of my favorite political commentators, Victor Davis Hanson, was strongly opposed to the unelectable and undignified Trump until mid-2016. He is now one of Trump's strongest and most articulate supporters.
I was a pro-Cruz (then a reluctant pro-Cruz) conservative until I became a Trump supporter. I worried that long-time democrat Trump was a stealth democrat. I have never in my whole life been so happy to be wrong.
My point? We should be forgiving of those who eventually see the truth. And for those who are big-government globalists who ignore the constitution's enumerated powers? Treason is a serious issue and their betrayal of our country should be treated as serious.

Then when Trump comes along and actually starts to get things done and points out their impotence, they abandon their faux-conservatism because he offends their vanity. I have more respect for committed left-wingers than I do for faux-conservatives like Max Boot, Jennifer Rubin, Jonathan Goldberg - at least the left-wingers don’t turn their backs on their stated positions because some guy they don’t personally like gets elected.

Being a Never Trumper gets you on TV, in newspapers, book deals and the general love and attention of the media. But the price is much higher than just criticizing Trump. Don’t think you can still get away with espousing conservative ideas! No, you sold you soul for money and love, and along with it, sold out your principles and beliefs.
