'Strategic' well-orchestrated heists seen amid protest chaos

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Police in a small San Francisco Bay Area community were about to help authorities in neighboring Oakland keep the peace during a protest when a more pressing crisis hit home: groups of thieves were pillaging malls, setting fire to a Walmart and storming a car dealership.

By the time San Leandro officers arrived at the Dodge dealership, dozens of cars were gone and thieves were peeling out of the lot in $100,000 Challenger Hellcat muscle cars. Nearly 75 vehicles were stolen Sunday, including models driven through glass showroom doors to escape.

“It was very strategic,” Sgt. Ray Kelly of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office said about the auto thefts and other recent heists.

The brazen heist, carried out by well-coordinated criminals, was one of many thefts nationwide in the last week at big box electronics stores, jewelry shops and luxury designers. Many of the smash-and-grab thefts have happened during or following protests over the death of George Floyd, who struggled to breathe as his neck was pinned down by a white Minneapolis police officer's knee.

The PoPo have not stopped this mayhem.

Therefore we need to cut their budget...

Zerohedge had article recently about breaking and renegotiating commercial loans due to lack of demand from covid lockdowns, online competition, and now widespread riots. Actual California legislature bills being drawn up now.

Retail bankruptcies will be accelerating. Landlords have to take losses and questioning rebuilding.

NO federal bailouts. Let Mexifornia and NYC collapse.

I watched a real good documentary on Amazon Prime about how criminal gangs flourished during the battle of Britain. While the Nazis bombed London from above, gangs robbed the city blind, murdered rivals or victims disposing the bodies in burnt out buildings and just had a golden age of crime.

Anarchy in America would make wartime Britain look like a day at the beach.

From now on, the keys go into a vault instead of just hanging on hooks!
Very expensive bit of laziness there.

Tucker said in Minneapolis 60 businesses destroyed and 300 heavily damaged.

So? That’s a good start. With police neutered and retrained can hope for total devastation of MSP. Great for photo ops.

Burn and bulldoze. I get excited about the carnage in commie land.

they were in a locked safe drawer kinda thing. not on hooks. The thieves busted the key safe drawer open and then used the fobs to find the corresponding cars, according to an interview with the dealer, as described here in this local cbs interview:

Okay, but I bet they get a real vault now.
Their insurance will demand it.

...locked safe drawer kinda thing...

IMO.
the dealership wanted to unload the cars
and collect insurance, otherwise,
the keys would have been off the property

So the commercial insurance business in these looted riot zones can’t handle the claims.

Collapse SF Bay Area PLEASE. Let justice be served.

75 cars is a lot of cars. A large fraction of new cars have mobile tracking systems such as On-Star on GM vehicles that will track the location of the cars and even can be used to remotely turn off the engine of the car.

Similarly, if the thieves were using cell phones to make 911 calls the cell phones would be known to the police.

Among all of this technology, there should be a few electronic clues as to who some of the thieves were. All the police need to do is collect the stolen merchandise and hopefully compare some potential thieves faces to security cameras.

I was thinking the same thing. The insurance companies are claiming that COVID is an "Act of God" and even those businesses that purchased "Loss of Business" insurance are having their claims denied.

Also, the banks are pulling back on making loans to car dealers because of the ton of cars that are being unloaded by Hertz and all of the unemployed people who are about to have their cars repoed.

So letting your cars be stolen is a great Plan B. I hope the insurance companies are forced to pay. It would serve them right for denying the "Loss of Business" claims.

Some of the cars were located. A lot of them they expect had already been chopped.

This was a VERRRY well planned heist. Maybe with help from someone on the inside.

Just “yuts” getting some collateral for their student loans at local area colleges.

California Marxists, black racists, some radical/racist Hispanics and all State Democrats carrying out their “rob and destroy” plans for California.

If the rioters were thwarted as far as getting the cars, they would have just vandalized them beyond what it was worth to repair them.
