No, hands off ALL the monuments. Grant, Lee, Columbus, Washington, doesn’t matter. ALL THE MONUMENTS.

Except the Seattle statue of Lenin. Blow that sucker up.

No one can object to the removal of monuments to the leaders of the Confederacy, who dedicated their lives to the rejection of the thesis that “all men are created equal.” These figures sought to “wring their bread from the sweat of other men’s faces,” in the words of Lincoln’s second inaugural address.


This really jumps out at me. So to these authors, it’s ok to tear down statues commemorating the South or the Confederacy in the Civil War. No one can object, they claim. Their only concern is that the mob is going after people they think are deserving of honor, not the concept of mobs tearing down statues to people or causes they disagree with.
