Actually LBJ was on the right track after he read the Moynihan report on the status of the “Negro Family” in 1965. He gave a speech in support of changing this deterioration.
The race hustlers at the time branded Moynihan and others as racists blaming the victims. That redirected the Great Society toward the hustlers and their groups that wanted to distribute the money. The Moynihan report was right. Johnson was right but the powers that were in charge of the civil rights movement and the Congress then, killed the report and the ideas in it.
The family problem is much worse now and it has spread to the white population as well.
