My first thought, too, was “on the spectrum.” I’m surprised the officers didn’t pick up on that right away. Within seconds I picked up on that.

These are the kinds of stories that worry parents with kids who are socially awkward in some way. What happens when they become adults, still not equipped to handle encounters with the police.

You teach them just as you would anything else.......We have a Autistic young adult now in our family...you can teach them about police just as you would other areas of concern. Take them to visit a police station to get familiar with them etc.
