CALIFORNIA Governor Gavin Newsom on Wednesday ordered wineries in 19 counties to close amid surging coronavirus cases — but his own winery and tasting room remains open.

Newsom made the announcement after the Golden State reported a nearly 50 percent increase in COVID-19 cases over the past two weeks.Indoor operations at restaurants, wineries, and tasting rooms, family entertainment centers, movie theaters, zoos, museums, and cardroom gambling businesses were ordered to close down.

The updated coronavirus restrictions apply to 19 counties, including Los Angeles, that have been on the state’s monitoring list because of an increasing number of cases for three straight days.

But, as noted by California’s KMPH-TV, Newsom’s winery and tasting room in Napa Valley — PlumpJack Wines — is still open. The winery's website explains Newsom found PlumpJack Wines in 1992 as his first business.

Think someone should pour a glass of wine over Governor Newsom’s head?

Drink to this..........

In 2007, Newsom publicly apologized for having an affair in 2005 with Ruby Rippey Gibney, who was his commission appointments secretary. At the time, she was married to Alex Tourk, Newsom’s campaign manager, and known as Ruby Rippey-Tourk. Newsom was separated from his first wife, Kimberly Guilfoyle, when the affair occurred.

From the valley. If you are going to recognize the questionability of this move of closing the San Joaquin Valley wineries, then you need to have one fact. Newsom’s winery is in Napa Valley, well north and west of the San Joaquin Valley.

The San Joaquin Valley has five million acres of irrigated farmlands planted to cotton, grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts and wine grapes. By far the largest producing area in the state, the San Joaquin Valley accounts for more than 50 percent of the total state winegrape crush. There are more than 30 wineries and five AVAs.

The majority of wine, table and raisin grapes in California are grown in this Valley. French Colombard is the leading variety with over 28,000 acres. Chardonnay is the second most planted grape with 16,000 acres. The red winegrape with the most acreage is Zinfandel at 14,000 acres.

Get the idea? He closed his competition because he couldn’t compete with them.

What a joke, the Central Coast wineries (closed down) pull in much smaller crowds than the world renown Napa Valley wineries that are still open. This is beyond the beyond.

“Get the idea? He closed his competition because he couldn’t compete with them”

Napa makes superior wines to the Central Valley, maybe not the volume. Not to say necessarily Clown Newsome's winery is any good.
