Why does this article not mention that the US had extensive rare earth mines? But the EPA shut them down. Because they were shut down, they were sold cheap..and the Chinese bought the rare earth mines in the US?
They're not called Rare Earth metals because they are in short supply. They're called Rare Earths because of their location in the Periodic Table of the Elements. They're plentiful all over the planet. The problem is that extracting and processing them into useful products is a very toxic process that makes the EPA's head explode.
