I doubt that. And I also doubt it's a false-flag/hoax type.

Most likely is that the mob did what the mob's been doing: tearing down statues. They don't care who it is, most of them probably have no idea; they went after the 54th Mass memorial (the all-black unit), they've gone after many founding fathers and other abolitionists, so I would guess this one is the same. Ignorant idiots.
