As Horowitz writes in “Blitz,” “Trump was not only not one of them, he was their worst nightmare — disrespectful toward everything they stood for — politically incorrect.”
1) He is a self-made man who owes nothing to anyone;
2) He IS one of them: Ivy League educated, born and raised in the heart of the elites, NYC, etc.
3) He KNOWS these people very well - he got invited to their parties, donated to their campaigns and causes, pal’d around with them; and
4) In the final analysis, he absolutely HATES THEIR GUTS and knows all of their weaknesses. That he is as smart as a whip, is driven to defeat them, doesn’t give a damn what anyone thinks of him, and is thinking of newer and better ways to defeat them literally while they are sleeping - all of that absolutely chills them to the core of their dark souls. He is St. George, and they the dragon.
