Pa. Health Department Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine said Monday that there are currently no plans to move any part of the state back to Gov. Tom Wolfs yellow or red reopening phases despite increased case counts in 43 counties.
Levine revealed the news during a news conference to address the states COVID-19 response. The state in its entirety has been in Wolfs green phase since June, though some areas like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh still have some gathering restrictions in place.
We are looking at all of our case counts very carefully throughout the state, Levine said. We do not plan at this time to use those dramatic statewide types of measures the, [like] the red, yellow and green schema, but were going to watch them very carefully.
We strongly support the targeted mitigation effort that was implemented by Allegheny County, and well be considering the data every day.
Allegheny County officials have closed indoor dining and also are not allow alcohol consumption at bars for the time being after seeing a spike in new cases after the county reached the green phase, which allows for gatherings of up to 250 people and indoor dining, among other things. Levine added that the state has no plans to impose further restrictions in Allegheny County at this point in time. It can be assumed that the same goes for Philadelphia. There, indoor dining is still not OK and places like gyms arent open.
Pa. actually reported one of its lowest daily new case counts in weeks on Monday at 328. Previously, the figures had been approaching 1,000 for the first time since May for multiple days in a row. Levine said Mondays low number may have to do with a lag in reporting from the weekend.
Whats most important for Pennsylvanias to know right now is that in order to go about their routines, we need to make important choices to lower our risk, Levine said. We have to adapt our activities to protect against COVID-19 and make the choice to not do some of those activities if theyre not safe.
That means, please go for a walk, go hiking, enjoy state parks, but take your mask just like you take your sunscreen. Think about yourself. Think about your family. Think about your community and others, and make those smart choices.

Welcome to Transylvania!
We have thousands of homeless people in my area. Thousands. Its like an entire layer of population superimposed on our regular cities. They are in doorways and stand onthe medians of major intersections. They stand at all the exits of supermarket parking lots. They dont have great hygiene so they arent going to be avid hand washers. You would think that they would be so susceptible to Covid in the same numbers as the rest of us, at least!
My job has me driving around town during the day in an urban to suburban ecosystem. I see tents under freeways and along the bike trails and in the big regional parks.
I would bet that I would see at least one deceased homeless person or at least one ambulance or coroner truck within some proximity of the homeless population. The fact that I havent doesnt mean a lot but if I did I would certainly be convinced that something is going on. But nothing.
As of 2 weeks ago 68.5% of all deaths in PA were in extended care facilities after Tommie the Commie and Richard “Don’t Call Me Dick” Levine order them to admit infected patients knowing full well they couldn’t handle them.
Can’t make this sh*t up...
As of today the percentage has slipped a little to straight-on 68%. Still the worst in the nation.
