President Donald Trump is cancelling the Republican National Convention in Jacksonville, he announced Thursday during a White House briefing.

The GOP convention is about the only time the GOP can get their message out to the public without having to pay for it. They need to do something.

I think they’re also having to contend with the mayor of Jacksonville, RINO Lenny Curry, who has been trying to make this difficult. He imposed a mask order a couple of weeks ago, and then when it was announced that they would have most of the events outside and only a small group in the convention center, he declared that the sheriff couldn’t handle the security requirements because of the demonstrators that would come.
He said he would still give an acceptance speech, but it would probably be virtual or to a scaled back group.
Agreed. The debates will be even more critical in the absence of a traditional convention IMO.

How does this disarm Biden? It gives him permission to stay in his basement without being exposed.
I support this decision. If the virus continues to overshadow all else in the minds of the electorate at the expense of his strongest issue of support, the economy, then he is weakened. By assuming more of a leadership role, despite his critics insistence that this power is left to the states, he gains credit among the people for addressing a national problem with national resources. I’m afraid the virus doesn’t recognize federalism.

As long as the convention happens somewhere. Cancel Charlotte, cancel Jackson, it won’t matter.
Just have a convention
It is the right move at the right time and best of all it is a solid indicator that shows that Trump’s internal polling in Florida is showing that Tump has a vast lead in Florida.
