I was wondering about filing deadlines in each state (to appear on the ballot). Ballotpedia table shows California requires 26,500 signatures for the Dem candidate, and
47,938 for a GOP candidate, and South Carolina requires a $20,000 filing fee!
The latest deadline shows to be 9/4/2020. Would the Dems be allowed to replace slow Joe after that date? Of course they would! Would Repubs be allowed to in the same situation? Probably not in Dem states!

I'm about to post an article on this very issue...I think it's up to the State legislatures respectively to decide to throw out (or transfer) mail-in votes for a candidate who's been replaced.
Talk about ugly...it'll make the whole mask/no mask debate seem like nothing.

That would be most inconventient for the dems who are already completing and stockpiling boxes full of ballots to be discovered after the election, sort of like the trunk of that car in “Repo Man”.
