The Afghan government released 80 of the remaining 400 Taliban prisoners Thursday, paving the way for long-stalled peace negotiations after nearly two decades of bitter and violent conflict in the country.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani got the go-ahead from the consultative assembly Loya Jirga, which sanctioned the release of prisoners in an effort to speed up talks in the war-torn nation.

Some of the prisoners have been implicated in devastating bombings in the capital Kabul.

Afghanistan will end just the way Vietnam did. Helicopters will be taking off from the roof of the U.S. embassy as insurgents flood into the capital.

As I see it, Vietnam is all on LBJ. Nixon and Ford were just bit players. Likewise Afghanistan is all on George W. Bush. Obama and Trump are just bit players. And in many ways Bush was worse than LBJ. Bush had the lessons of Vietnam to guide him. Bush ignored those lessons.

The Afghanistan government was totally in bed with the Taliban all along. They were about as stable as a reed in the wind as a government. So all the outrages about women-—denying them even a basic education so that they’ll be helpless and totally dependent on their men who treat them worse than animals, “honor” killings, kidnapping women and forcing them into marriages, beating them, etc. will go on. It is frustrating to know that such human torture goes on in the world and we are helpless to stop it. What happened to the billions and billions of dollars wasted on the U.N.? Where were they while this was going on for years and continues to go on? Heck, they probably even pitched with with the rape of women there.

Not to mention the same sex rape of young boys. And fathers swapping their own sons with other fathers for man-boy sex. Add in the cash crop of opium poppies for the big H and you have got a rather horrible environment for any attempt at civilization.

Yes, I think you’re right. The Afghan government was never anything but a Taliban front organization , with its main purpose being the collection of money from gullible foreign governments.

For fevery drug lord and lab they take out.

Putin wants to control that crap from coming into Russia and neither he nor the Chinese want muslim extremists training there to come up into Asia and mess up their One Belt plans.
