Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., fighting to salvage his Presidential campaign, today acknowledged ''a mistake'' in his youth, when he plagiarized a law review article for a paper he wrote in his first year at law school.
Mr. Biden insisted, however, that he had done nothing ''malevolent,'' that he had simply misunderstood the need to cite sources carefully. And he asserted that another controversy, concerning recent reports of his using material from others' speeches without attribution, was ''much ado about nothing.''

“It all depends on what the meaning of ‘cheating’ is.”
Only Republicans do malevolent plagiarism.
Comey knew from his mind reading skills that Hillary didn’t “mean” to illegally act when she committed federal felonies at Chappaqua concerning her laptops, destruction of subpoenaed files, BitBleach cleaning of emails, giving security files to share on the laptop of Anthony Weiner the pedophile, and her lesbian lover Huma Abedin.
He just “knew”.
Biden seems so honest they “know” he didn’t mean to be a crook./s
Hahahahaha....Democrat “mistake” equals LIES. This is not news. Same old crap.
Depends on the law school.
Oh, BS. From the first time in 7th or 8th grade when I learned about writing research papers, I was powerfully instructed on the absolute need to cite sources properly. Indeed, in that area one of the first words I learned was “plagiarism” and what it exactly meant. One of the first courses in the first semester of freshman year in law school is legal writing where the students are powerfully instructed on the need to include proper citations to all sources and how to do it. That’s essential because the next thing students are required to do is write briefs for moot court competition, where they’re required to use proper citations in the correct form.
Yes, I’m a retired lawyer.
>> misunderstood the need to cite sources carefully
Damn! Coulda used that in grad school. Too late now. )-:
Should Bill Clinton's beating and rape of Juanita Broderick just be forgotten about because he wasn't malevolent?
Mr. Biden insisted, however, that he had done nothing ‘’malevolent,’’ that he had simply misunderstood the need to cite sources carefully.

You’re in first year law and you claim you “misunderstood” the need to cite sources?? A lie to cover a lie. Anyone in Middle School knows you need to provide a citation of any material you might quote.
Side note. The University I attended way back in the day had only two rules, which if violated got you tossed from the school. They didn’t care if you did drugs. They didn’t care if you were sleeping around or drinking. They did care if you
1. Cheated on a test
2. Failed to cite source material
Wait, this is the NYTimes? Looks like theyre already pushing Kamela to the top of the ticket.
Joe just was not very good at math either. He finished in the top 10% in his math classes. Or maybe bottom 90% or you know the deal.
At my university (Va Tech) in the 70’s you got expelled for this.
He plagiarized “malevolent”.
I would like to see any of them take the LSAT in a controlled environment. I bet that would be revealing.
“..misunderstood the need to cite sources carefully...”
Two explanations for that kind of statement:
1.) You are lying
2.) You are too stupid to understand something that basic
Of course his prevarication was not “malevolent” - but facts that can be checked against the known public accessto background information being misrepresented are certainly in the territory of IGNORANT.
It is one thing to impress kids with all the great exploits of your younger years, another altogether to invent those exploits out of whole cloth. Any employment application that presented such a divergent variance with reality would, and properly should, be dropped in the waste can immediately.
Joe Biden is applying for one of the most powerful positions in the world, and to invent such a fanciful resume invites much closer scrutiny than would otherwise be applied. Bragging is one thing, an intentional falsehood is something else altogether.
