Trump’s strong Republican Convention speech increases his reelection chances
Fox News ^ | August 27 2020 | Doug Schoen

President Trump delivered one of the best speeches of his political career Thursday night as he accepted the Republican National Convention’s nomination for a second term, boosting his chances for reelection.

The president’s 70-minute speech was highly effective in the sense that he drew clear and arguably persuasive contrasts between himself and former Vice President Joe Biden in many areas, including their broad-based visions for America, the economy, and law enforcement.

In a way that was reminiscent of Trump’s positioning during the 2016 campaign, the president made it clear that he is running as an outsider and a non-politician against Democratic presidential nominee Biden, who Trump characterized as embodying the political class and the establishment.

You’re exactly correct. That’s the impression I get too. Although we easily see it, he doesn’t seem to realize his party has abandoned him. He thinks its still 1997.

I noticed the “Nessun Dorma” which was truly magnificent. I knew the gist of the words (I will win!), but did not know about the movie. Had to read about the movie a bit.

Found this interesting:

“Nessun dorma” has been used in many films,[23] often appearing at a central moment in the film—sometimes with the aria’s moment of musical resolution aligned with the film’s narrative climax, giving symbolic meaning to the aria’s rich emotional impact. Films in which the aria plays a significant role in the soundtrack include The Killing Fields,[24] New York Stories,[25] Mar adentro,[26] The Sum of All Fears,[27] The Mirror Has Two Faces,[28] Bend It Like Beckham,[23] No Reservations,[29] and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation[30] (with the scene set within a performance of Turandot itself). It was sung by Pavarotti himself as part of his fictional role in the film Yes, Giorgio.[31] “Nessun dorma” is also the title of a short film by Ken Russell included in the 1987 film Aria.[32] Nessun dorma is the title of a football podcast, hosted by The Guardian journalist Lee Calvert and featuring sports writers past and present, that celebrates 1980s and 1990s football.[33] When all of Italy was under lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a video of opera singer Maurizio Marchini performing “Nessun dorma” from his balcony in Florence went viral.[34]

Biden got a slow pitch and got off a bunt hit for a single base.

Trump took a curve ball with bases loaded and 2 strikes 2 outs and got a grand slam home run.

According to Chris Wallace, it was flat and lacking.

Yes, I saw him say that, he must have been looking down at his fly when he made that statement.

My source for this is a well-connected friend who is in the political advertising business (on our side) and has contacts all over the place. He studies the business and keeps his ear to the ground.

“Doug Schoen is an honest man. He was a solid Clinton supporter for years”.

Solid? Not so. He wasn’t a Hillary supporter.

He always hits a home run. Great stump speaker. Expectations are always high, and he meets and exceeds them.

Trump is finally playing offense on the issues. He is done with the venting, personal-attack tweets, i.e., “pencil neck,” and with defensively responding to every piece of garbage uttered by the left.

“He doesn’t seem to grasp that “his party” would happily slit his throat and leave him to die on the street”.

You are exactly right. Schoen is a Useful Idiot and once they are no longer useful to the Communists, they are set aside, one way or another.

Trump was appealing to democrat voters and people who might be on the fence. I think he will get a LOT of former democrat voters because of his message and Biden showing himself to be a weak sister candidate.

I am looking forward to Trump’s campaign speeches which should be coming up shortly.

Biden can’t complete on any level.
