US President Donald Trump has been nominated for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize.
The nomination came from right-wing Norwegian politician Christian Tybring-Gjedde and relates to the historic peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees, Tybring-Gjedde said to Fox News.
He said in his nomination letter: As it is expected other Middle Eastern countries will follow in the footsteps of the UAE, this agreement could be a game changer that will turn the Middle East into a region of cooperation and prosperity.
He also discussed the presidents key role in facilitating contact between conflicting parties and creating new dynamics in other protracted conflicts, such as the Kashmir border dispute between India and Pakistan, and the conflict between North and South Korea, as well as dealing with the nuclear capabilities of North Korea.
Tybring-Gjedde also said that Trump had withdrawn many US soldiers from the Middle East.
Last year, Donald Trump said: I think Im going to get a Nobel Prize for a lot of things, if they gave it out fairly, which they dont.
They gave it out well, they gave one to Obama immediately upon his ascent to the presidency, and he had no idea why he got it. And you know what? That was the only thing I agreed with him on.
The announcement on Oct 9 is for the 2020 prize. Trump was nominated at least twice for the 2021 Nobel peace prize. We do not know if he was nominated for 2020.
I think Trump should turn down the discredited Peace Prize (think Obama and Arafat) and just be known as the businessman who brought these conflicting nations together after decades of useless career politicians failures. I believe there will be more and this will be his major legacy. He is boxing in Iran. If he could get the Saudis on board, it's all over but the crying for Iran. No, Iran won't start a war being surrounded by the coalition Trump is building.
Who do you think is next to normalize relations with Israel? My guess, Oman.
