Are We Ready to Rehabilitate George W. Bush’s Reputation?
texasmonthly ^ | 09/16/2020 | ANDREW R. GRAYBILL

he George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum opened seven years ago and anchors the southeastern corner of campus at Southern Methodist University, where I teach history. In late November 2016, I took a tour of the facility with five college friends who were visiting from the East Coast. The recent presidential election was much on our minds as we wandered through the building, contemplating various artifacts from Bush’s two terms in office. Although we were hardly fans of his presidency, one of my pals—fearful, like everyone in our group, of a Trump administration—got misty-eyed when reflecting upon Bush’s obvious love of country. After an hour or so, with a requisite stop for photos in the museum’s full-sized and perfectly appointed replica of the Oval Office, we left in glum moods.

Oh, it’s not just a one-way street. Epic Demonrat mismanagement, which is inevitable, generally leads to Republican victories. Wilson led to Harding, Truman led to Ike, LBJ led to Nixon, Carter led to Reagan, Bubba the Rapist led to Shrub, Zero led to Trump.

But this was not supposed to be an 8 years and then the opposition in 2016. El Jebbe Arbusto was supposed to get the nomination and gracefully lose to the first female dictator, assuring a minimum of 16 years straight of corrupt Stalinazi control. By 2024, the GOP would’ve been destroyed had that occurred (that, and WW3 under the Butcheress of Benghazi). The Bushes family cancer always seemed to be present when the country’s future was at stake, and going the wrong way. El Jebbe was to deliver the death blow as the turd and final nominee as the Derp State designated loser (as Willard and McQueeg was before them).

That an Alito is all one can say kindly about Bush. He ran one way and governed like his daddy. I have never been so disappointed in a president as Bush43. I defended him for a long time but watched him work against the average American and for the globalist more and more. Huge disappointment.

Well, it didn’t happen, and Dubya and Jeb et al., are out on their asses. What does Dubya need his reputation rehabilitated for? And why should he be rehabilitated. Mittens, another designated loser, turned on his erstwhile benefactor, Trump, after he helped him keep his Senate seat. He’s not getting rehabilitated ever. So 1. why should Dubya be allowed back in our good graces, and 2. what does he need it for? He can make a fortune on lecturing tours and sitting on boards of directors, with or without the GOP’s forgiveness. So let him go do that, and STFU.

As for Jeb, he got to play governor for a while, but a three-time dynasty is not happening. Adams got one son as POTUS. Roosevelt got one cousin as POTUS. The Bushes have had two POTUSes, too. More than the Lincolns ever got; just a thank-you-very-much and a bullet to the back of his head, then his wife declared insane. Let the rest of the Bush tribe go f@#$ themselves. They got off easy.

...and to think of all the crap I took here on FR back when we were voting for this guy because I refused to think he was actually a “conservative” despite all of the evidence he was a RINO at best...

Also, we have already had a preview of how they will rehabilitate Trump’s image during the next Republican administration: just look at all the articles and comments about how a President Pence would be “even worse” because of his social conservatism.

Once it is convenient to do so, liberals will suddenly discover the obvious fact that Trump is not a conservative ideologue, and they will contrast his centrism with the “right wing extremism” of whatever Republican happens to be President.

Back then, the Bush-bots were like today's Q-bots. That would be more emotional than logical, pliable, juvenile and dogmatic to the point of being sometimes rabid. Not the kind of folks you'd want to take advice from.

No, not really. I cannot speak for everybody, I did know absolutely he was superior to Al Gore - Still is, for that matter.

What I did NOT realize was that Bush was only skin-deep. That he WAS a Washington insider no better than Dole, his father, or McCain - who I already did not trust even in 2000. I did NOT anticipate that his appointments and his staff would be so deeply loyal to their Globalist Deep State/Deep Bureaucracy, and not loyal to American interests.

I did NOT anticipate how deeply he would twist towards unlimited illegal immigration, towards Mexico and Mexican and Muslim influence in policies.

But that is WHY he lost the Senate to Reid, lost the House to Pelosi in 2006. Bush had DONE NOTHING to show he should be supported.

Even more egregious, Bush fired top aide Larry Lindsey after Lindsey disputed the projected cost of the Iraq invasion.
Lindsey estimated the cost of the Iraq War could reach $200 billion.

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told Bush he estimated that it would cost less than $50 billion.
NOTE: the Iraq invasion is now pegged at some $2 trillion dollars.....and counting.

The war profiteering was unimaginable. Neocon godfather, Richard Perle,
was safely ensconced in Paris as his neocon pals duped Bush from their WH offices.

Perle actually started an oil company ..... the war profiteering was that profitable for insiders.

God only knows how much the neocon agitators walked away with.

What’s the best part of Dubya for you?

Trying to ram through another amnesty?
Siding with illegals in California’s Prop 187 fight?
“Islam is a Religion of Peace”?
Outlawing the profiling of airline passengers?
Sending BP Agents Ramos and Compean to prison for shooting a drug smuggler?
Labelling border patriots “nativists” and “xenophobes”?
Nominating Harriet Miers?

So many examples of Dubya excellence. Maybe you have your own favorite.

The stuttering drunk who covered for Saudi Arabia’s role in 9-11, killed thousands of Americans cleaning up Saudi Arabia’s Iraq problem, increased Islamic immigration, and tried repeatedly to end the USA in favor of a merged-state with Mexico via a massive illegal-alien amnesty?

Globalist blue-blood tool- and left the economy in shambles to boot. The Bush family has caused horrific damage to our nation. Jeb is responsible for a lot of the enviro-whack trash that has infected Florida, where I live. I thank God that he got nowhere near the presidency.

I wonder if GWB is still painting (lousy) watercolors of the service members who were killed in his wars.
