Forget the GOP Establishment: President Trump’s Final Electoral Push Must Focus on Coronavirus Relief for America’s Middle-Class

President Trump’s triumphant return to the White House sent a strong message that he’s beaten Covid and is ready to move on to an even weaker and more overrated opponent in Joe Biden.

When he does, the president should make it a top priority to secure a second coronavirus relief package from Congress, with a second wave of checks sent directly to Americans. This will both maximize his reelection chances, and maximize the good he can do for the country in the last weeks of his first term.

The President intuitively understands this. Even as he was undergoing coronavirus treatment at Walter Reed hospital, he tweeted about the issue:

—-

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump OUR GREAT USA WANTS & NEEDS STIMULUS. WORK TOGETHER AND GET IT DONE. Thank you! 10:46 AM · Oct 3, 2020 —-

But on Tuesday, under apparent pressure from the establishment Republican machine, the president stepped back from his sound instincts

—- Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump · Oct 6, 2020 Nancy Pelosi is asking for $2.4 Trillion Dollars to bailout poorly run, high crime, Democrat States, money that is in no way related to COVID-19. We made a very generous offer of $1.6 Trillion Dollars and, as usual, she is not negotiating in good faith. I am rejecting their...

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump ...request, and looking to the future of our Country. I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business. I have asked...

That’s mostly a lie. He said he would pass the airline Bill and PPP and that was already being spoken about as separate. he is not giving in on the 600 unemployment and he is not giving in on bailing out the states and cities. nor should he. My God someone shows some courage on our side and people freak out.

Too many Republicans remind me of Johnny Fontaine in the Godfather.

“I don’t know what to do Godfather I don’t know what to do.”

Trump: “you can act like a man!”

That was Meadows’s idea? Is he Paul Ryan’s brother by another mother? I heard the tax cut thing and thought WTH? Maybe that’s Meadows, too, due to its tone-deafness.

Trump should have somebody who understands how these type of things sound to the great unwashed masses to assist him.

The first announcement sounded like “I’m stopping everything until after the election - no relief for you! (say with the Soup Nazi voice).

That is the one the media latched on to, selling it as Pelosi wanted to help the American people, but Trump said “No”.

The later outing of “let’s get straight up relief funds out to the American people, let’s just do it” was the right way to do it, but the media is focusing on the first one.
Missed opportunity.

Read the full article before you call it a lie. Unfortunately I can only post a small fraction of the piece.

Can President Trump do it by executive order?

I still stand with my original comment after reading the article.

Trump DOES want to sign off on the 1200 dollar stimulus.

The airlines bailout, even pelosi said, would be a separate bill if needed.

The Majority of Americans think 600 a week unemployment is too much.

we NEVER give 60 percent of Americans the credit of actually thinking and knowing what’s going on

pelosi won’t budge on the 600 and the state and local bailouts.

#### her.

Trump offered to sign for the 1,200.

I don’t know what people don’t get about pelosi NOT BUDING on the 600 unemployment and the state bailout money.

Again, #### her and although I DON’T like meadows and the country needs some help, I CERTAINLY don’t approve of pissing away 2.2 trillion to get votes.

That’s called integrity and Trump has a lot of it.

Thank God

Have a good one

Regardless, Trump needs to fix this tweet or lose the election, Nancy may not meet him in the middle but he can’t be seen as the one not negotiating for relief -which is what the tweet did, played right into the Dem lefty hands

I sent this Comment on the White House Contact Website today. Here it is:

President Trump: this is about the 3rd or 4th time I have addressed this issue in a contact submission to your Administration. I once again reiterate: please use this tactic politically RIGHT AWAY. I heard on the TV that finally, while the Dems/MSM are making hay about your breaking off negotiations to continue stimulus talks because of Pelosi’s total lack to negotiating in good faith, you have said you would sign a stand alone agreement to pay every U.S. citizen a $1200 stimulus payment. FINALLY.

Now, please up the ante, as I have previously recommended. Make the amount $1500 per citizen. Make it eye catching by making the amount $2020 per citizen, an amount all will remember. And don’t just say it once or twice and then let the offer drop. Fan your campaign troops out all over the fruited plain repeating this mantra of a STAND ALONE BILL offer, daily. Make it your own.

Use VP Pence as the vehicle to introduce this offer to millions of the watching public at the VP debate tonight so that all can hear your offer. Hammer it home repetitively that Pelosi is not negotiating in good faith and that you want to get as much money back into the hands of our citizens ASAP, no strings attached, one large Stimulus Check to every U.S. citizen. Keep this up DAY AFTER DAY until the election so that everyone knows how serious you are. Make Pelosi the ogre.

This is psychological warfare and you must put the blame for the failure of the stimulus negotiations where it truly belongs, with Speaker Pelosi/DEMS. If you don’t seize this moment, you will live to regret it big-time. Fight fire with fire. MAGA.

When I speak with my friends, acquaintances, relatives, this is all they talk about. Where is my promised stimulus check? It would go to all individuals, including your targeted audience of small business owners, the lower & middle class, to everyone that is a legal citizen. Give the folks what the vast majority truly want, a stimulus check. DO IT NOW!

More checks in the mail to finance burning down America.
One upon a time endless porkulus bills were frowned upon.
Politics vs principles.
Poor people bailed out while the working class remains chained to a growing tax burden.
Lets not call it debt and deficit, as these things are manipulated by changi g the value of the dollar.
Lets call it what it it Pelosis party getting their wildest funding dreams granted. Unions flush with money with the bo us of time to work actively to destroy America.

President Trumps’ final electoral push must focus on whether the majority of voters want the U.S.A. to continue to be a capitalist country, or do the majority of voters want the U.S.A. to become a socialist country, instead!

I’m not even close to being an economist, but throwing more money to people ... doesn’t that result in the lazy ones, of which there are many, not going back to work? More small business would die, right?

More small business would die, right?

Neither side cares much about them (perceived by most to be "The Evil 1%") - and never has. And very few potential Trump voters would stay home just because they don't get a check this month.

It's just an election slogan, so I like the above suggested "$2,020 in 2020" plan. It amounts to little more than a campaign ad, but it would be an effective one.

I dunno - there are both the pluses and the minuses. A good percentage of businesses, both big and small, will die - many already have. They’re stuck in a deep hole, as are many citizens, that’s going to take a lot of time and money to get out of.
