The latest survey from Gallup found that a clear majority of registered voters (56 percent) believed they were better off now compared to four years ago.
But when they were asked whether they were better or worse off toward the end of Obama's first term in the White House, only 45 percent told pollsters their situation had improved over the four years between 2008 and December 2012.

This is good news for Trump....
IF that is the case the election is over. Trump should win walking away.
Assuming this poll is accurate Trump needs to pivot his ads in a big way to demonstrate how his policies lead to the very best ever economic numbers as of March 1 2020. Then show that those policies are creating the fast recovery since May reopening. Outpacing all predictions. They have to own this response.
I am better off since ‘97 financially and emotionally better off since forever.
Never because of the demographic shift that has occurred in the last couple of decades.
DUH...
Its the economy stupid
Under one conditions then does one dump an incumbent when this is the case?
Imminent threat of nuclear war is the only thing I could think of.
I could imagine if Gallup did head to head poll on this the media would need a defibrillator while reporting it
Biden is 10 points ahead dont you know?
All polls are unreliable.
I’m better off for not having to listen to Obozo drone on and on about something nonsensical regularly. I definitely don’t need addled-brained Joe’s inanities for the next four years. Or God forbid, Kommie Harris.
The stock market has helped a lot...is Wall Street for Trump in secret?
.
For me and my family, I am indeed better off financially.
But we were better off financially after Clinton and Obama too, though—blessedly, my career and my husband’s career of 27 years have been solid and have had a steady upward trajectory (one 2008 blip).
But we’re not better off than 4 years ago, and solely because of living in CA with a tyrannical governor:
My kids are still not back at school—”remote learning” only because of CA’s teachers unions. Fires burning everywhere and smoky skies because of a lack of forest management. rolling blackouts because of our “green new deal,” bums and junkies all over the streets, restaurants all out of business, high taxes, 100% mandated masks everywhere at all times, and my conservative friends have all left for greener pastures. The unfunded liabilities have stripped my local school of funding. The SAT was dropped and that was my 3rd son’s superpower (his GPA doesn’t match); he will now be going to a red state for college in the hopes that it will be open and offer in-person instruction in Fall 2021.
I don’t see how the United States is supposedly poised to welcome in these types of changes, which a Biden administration would bring. Does the rest of the United States really want to look like CA? Rolling blackouts and high taxes and poor schools? Because this is what Biden will offer.
I blame Trump for none of this. I blame my governor and my fellow Californians.
I'd say this is marvelous news. I've been intentionally ignoring the match-up polls (Biden vs. Trump) this election season. But I have occasionally looked at the daily tracking polls and citizenry thoughts about the economy. This one stuns me. Trump is 9 points ahead of Dubya and 11 points ahead of Obama, both of whom won re-election. If that's an accurate assessment of the national mood, I may have to move NM and OR from toss-up to leans Trump.
