Gallup: Majority Say They Are Better Off Under Trump Than Obama/Biden

Pollster Gallup has found that a majority of 56% of Americans feel that they are better off now under Donald Trump’s presidency than they were four years ago under Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

The survey recorded the highest number of Americans in history saying that they feel in a better position 4 years into an incumbent’s presidency:

% of Americans who say they are better off now than they were 4 years ago

Sept 2020: 56 percent

Dec 2012: 45 percent

Oct 2004: 47 percent

Oct 1992: 38 percent

July 1984: 44 percenthttps://t.co/CmUJ6rOG3E pic.twitter.com/LadV3G1GdI — Rob Henderson (@robkhenderson) October 8, 2020

Given that in all but one of the examples above, where the number is much lower than 56%, the incumbent was re-elected, the findings bode very well for Trump.

The President responded to the findings in a tweet:

The Gallup Poll has just come out with the incredible finding that 56% of you say that you are better off today, during a pandemic, than you were four years ago (OBiden). Highest number on record! Pretty amazing! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 9, 2020

While the majority is a good sign for Trump, the figure was even higher back in February, before the coronavirus pandemic. Back then, 61% expressed more satisfaction than they had four years previously.

Joe Biden has backed out of a live debate and is now blaming President Trump for the possible cancelation of the next debate.

Given the current circumstances, it is rather startling to find that more Americans think they are better off now, and betrays how effective Trump’s presidency has been thus far.

The only time an incumbent president has failed to be re-elected when seeking a second term since this question was first asked was H.W. Bush in 1992. The number of Americans more satisfied than four years previously in that instance was way down at 38%, nearly 20% less than has been recorded now.

The idea for the survey originates in a question Ronald Reagan asked Americans during his presidential campaign in 1980, ‘Are you better off today than you were four years ago?’

Imagine if they weren’t in lockdowns and masks? It would probably exceed 75%.

Six months of not spending on discretionary items, and paying down debt will put you in a much better place financially.

I am retired, so it matters little. My wife cut out all expenses related to travel, and working from the office. Plus she’s gotten two raises and will be getting a small “thanks for working” bonus in November (about a week’s pay.)

We are doing much better financially than we were last year at this time.

Is it Trumps doing? Sure...why not.

This is a huge result, one that incumbents hope for, because it usually means re-election.

As I posted in the other related thread:

BTW, even never-trumper Ben Shapiro is shook by this poll result. From his twitter:

“This is a stunning statistic. In a normal time, the president would be cruising to re-election on the basis of this poll data alone.”

EVERY PIECE of data, statistical or not, says Trump crushes it, except the polls.

So my money is with 'Trump is killing it' out there, and all this other noise is to set the stage for the dems only hope which is to attempt to plausibly declare the whole thing illegitimate. I suspect some big event during and/or just after/before the election ... related to the election or not ... will let, in their eyes and they hope others' eyes, democrats declare the entire election illegitimate or other wise null and void, or they will try to nuke the election entirely.

If you know you can't win the World Cup Finals, then blow up the stadium just before the event -> i.e. don't let it occur or make it such a cluster f*** that the event's taking place is not considered valid.

Partner, we do not even care how many DemonRat voters vote with these fraudulent DemonRat Voter cards we have since the word is getting out and there will be a record Republican turnout for President Trump.

The DemonRat Hiding Biden said that Michelle Obama did very well in the debates against Republican VP Pence.

I have heard him say Michelle did a great job and Hiding Biden does not even know that he is having Alzheimer's/Dementia issues really bad.

It is over for the DemonRats and turn out the lights the party is over.

Why do you think that he’s ahead?

In my blue state there are tons of people including repubs who just don’t like Trump. It doesn’t really matter as my state is solid blue. I often wonder with national polls how that works? because our system uses the electoral college, it doesn’t really matter what a majority of people nationally think.

Does it say how many people they polled?

I'm not one of these people that buries my head in the sand and says all the polls are wrong, but obviously the state polls are not lining up with the national polls. I think this poll more than anything would tell you were this election is going. Republicans will fight like crazy to get another 4 years...Dems who are enjoying the ride might be more likely to just not vote instead of having to vote directly for Trump.

Also how often do they do these polls? Because I'm sure someone over at Gallup is getting their heads cut off for releasing this, and that if they can they will release another one with the result at like 35%
