Nobody who really wanted to make a political impact would stage a kidnapping.
Just too many things to go wrong. Keeping the subject alive. Dealing with escape and rescue attempts, unknown medical issues, etc. Even practiced experts like the Mossad are reluctant. Too many moving parts.
Sniper fire or an umbrella ricin injector. That’s the way to go.
With modern tech it is ridiculously easy for law enforcement to track kidnappers using vehicles, cell phones, street cams, internet chat monitoring, etc.
This is not the 1920s where kidnapping prominent figures might actually be survivable...
