Sen. Collins confirms she will vote against Judge Coney-Barrett

PITTSFIELD (WGME) -- Senator Susan Collins says she will vote against Judge Amy Coney-Barrett being elected to the Supreme Court.

Sen. Collins releases statement on Supreme Court Vacancy "It's not a comment on her,” Collins said. “It is a comment on the process of rushing through a nomination in such a short time before a presidential election."

Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski also said she will be a no vote for the same reason.

To block the confirmation, two more senators would have to vote against Coney-Barrett, but Republicans have said they have the votes.

Correct. A genuine “two-fer” which gives her all the downside and deprives her of all upside. She has sealed her own fate. Is anybody with a brain advising her?

You’ll find out what a loser she is 11/4. Good riddance, Tuberville will replace this lost republican seat.

Elected to the Supreme Court? This reporter is reporting on a political and they have no basic knowledge of civics.

One thing about these RINOs is that no one wants to vote for them from either party.

No, but she has indicated she may abstain from voting on it.

This reporter has indicated that Justices are “Elected” to the Supreme Court so I would wait for an official announcement from Murkowski...wouldn’t surprise me, but she did not say this in her last statement.

This is common Congressional behavior. The party members who are in districts with large percentages of opposition party voters are allowed to vote against their party when it doesn't affect the outcome.

Nothing to get excited about.

The question now is why Maine Republicans should bother to vote for her.

I would love to hear Collins theory of why Amy Barrett will not be a fine judge. There is nothing in her history that disqualifies her.

Why would you, if you are a fraudulent Republican in name only then no Republican would want you and others vote for the authentic dem.

The reason her race is even a contest in Maine is because she voted to confirm Kavanaugh. Otherwise she would be sailing toward her usual 70% of the vote.
